Imo - it is not right and just that the NHRA allows him to take the suspension whenever he suits - in the new season that will be 6 months + after the fact

Completely ridiculous. In other cases suspensioms are immediate I can't understand how the rules are enforced. Next season should another jockey whip someone and be running for the championship would they also only have to take suspension afterwards?

Gavin Lerena has appealed against the charge of 90 days with 60 suspended and a R200,000 fine with R100,000 suspended regarding the WhipGates affair.

That does not tell us WHEN the appeal will be heard - I submit that everyone knows that he was provoked by Gates - but still Lerena did hit him  .... and that he can choose to when the suspension kicks in
