TURFFONTEIN STANDSIDE TRACK SUN 8 JUNE 2025
1 day 4 hours ago
TURFFONTEIN SUNDAY: Mike de Kock
Race 1, 1000m: “A nice newcomer here in Gimmeforsure, by Gimmethegreenlight. She has shown us lots of speed at home, some good quality work. If she can overcome greenness and inexperience, she’ll run well. She has a winning chance.”
Race 3,1 400m: “Three runners: White Pearl is well weighted and in good form. She has a strong winning chance from a good draw.
Gimmeanotherchance ran a very nice race last Tuesday, more like him. We’re hoping the quick back-up can keep him going, we know he is capable of winning a race like this, so he certainly has eachway claims. Wecangoallnight is a tricky customer to work with in the mornings. We feel like we’re slowly getting on top of his bad habits. He’ll enjoy stepping up to 1400m. He’s only had one run for us, we’re still getting to know him. He bears watching, probably one run short of his best.”
Race 4, 1160m: “Emerald Forge is consistent, knocking at the door and getting good weight allowances from her rivals. We’re expecting her to be right there.”
Race 6, 1400m: “Limerick Lace was an impressive debut winner over what we considered to be the bottom of her range, so the step up to 1400m should be right up her alley. She has a tricky barrier, will have to do more work than the rest, in a competitive field. We give her a nice eachway chance.”
Race 7, 1400m: “Two decent runners. Read All About It has been gelded and he has improved at home. We still think 1400m is on the sharp side, so look for him to be finishing off strongly, one to follow over a bit further. Take No Prisoners seems to have made natural improvement after his debut win, something we like to see. He has a bit of a sticky draw, we’re hoping for a smooth run in transit. It’s a tougher line-up, but we think he can be competitive.”
Race 8, 1800m: “Immediate Edge has had a lovely prep for this Grade 3, he has a nice draw and bottom weight. Kabelo knows him well now. He’s running with older horses in a strong race, but we’re confident in his well-being and ability. He now has to step up to the plate and put his hand up for some of the big races coming up.”
