Would you believe it......another heavily backed horse manages a dismal 4th.

Bit of a false favourite because of the doubles, I think. And people followed the shortened price. Just my speculation in hindsight.

I hear what you say, but, if they took in a lot of doubles, they cover themselves by shortening the odds on the 2nd leg runner in the double, creating a false impression on the 2nd leg.
