According to the National Gambling Board (NGB), gambling in the country is on the rise, with over R1.5 trillion spent across all gambling activities, a staggering R400 billion increase from the previous year alone.

I have no issue with gambling establishments making money.
Ethically.

My issue is that every gambling establishment is allowed to promote gambling every 5 seconds on TV, Radio and social media platforms.

The necessant promotion of these get rich, quick schemes play into the current economic desperation.

It's also exposing the younger generation to an industry that could be as detrimental to your health as alcohol or drugs.

Promotion of gambling should not be allowed.

I feel sorry for the next generation.

Drink is a bigger issue.. Ban Beer and Spirits adverts also

Wait ban sugar and fast food!

Wokeness is the biggest issue imo

Not having a dig, but the biggest problem in South Africa is unemployment, easy to blame the only successful businesses for the government failing their people..

If there were jobs the desperate wouldn't fall into the Drink, Drugs and gambling habits

PS they are saying the same in other countries as well, and stats show there are very few problem gamblers percentage wise of the population that gamble

Ive been punting horses and some soccer for 15 years or so and wouldn't say problematically but definitely had issues with alcohol and no longer drink at all. Ive learnt that I cant blame the fact that beer exists or is around me that I am unable to drink like a normal person some people are sick and will always make a plan to consume more weather theres advertising or not.

On the note of gambling over the last 2 months after 15 years of trial and error I have made consistent decent profits so I think I found a "winning" strategy. I just want to get the dreaded odds limited email so I know for sure😅

I dont think alcohol or food companies encourage the fact that you can become a millionaire overnight with a R200 bet.

Company fraud is at an all-time high.
A big percentage of these cases are crimes committed by business partners, managers and accountants.
I dont think they were starved of money.
Culprit in most of these cases?
Gambling.

Stats will always be skewed in the present.
It would have to be reviewed at a later stage for effectiveness.

If it is agreed that there is an increase in gambling.
Then it can also be agreed that there will be an increase in problem gamblers.

Give it 20-years and we will realise that a monster was created that can't be controlled.
