Re: CHARITY MILE DAY TURFFONTEIN SATURDAY 1 NOV
5 days 10 hours agoWE’RE RACING FOR GOOD IN THE 2025 ALLIED STEELRODE ON A MISSION CHARITY MILE (Gr2) Johannesburg, South Africa — Saturday, 1 November 2025 sees the 5th renewal of the Charity Mile with Allied Steelrode as title sponsor. This year, the race has 20 nominated charities and will be giving away R1 million across these very worthy causes. As is fitting for an event of this nature, this race has a proud legacy. It was first run as the Germiston November at Gosforth Park, moving to Newmarket before finally settling at its current home at Turffontein in 2007. It has a rich honour roll graced by some of our turf greats — Foveros, Wolf Power, 2022 Betway Summer Cup hero Puerto Manzano, and 2023 Hollywoodbets Durban July winner Winchester Mansion to name just a few. Interestingly, Wolf Power is joined by the evergreen Bingwa (now plying his trade in the Eastern Cape), as the only horses to win back to back runnings of the Charity Mile. But what makes this race special is its purpose. Thanks to Allied Steelrode, this race helps a number of deserving organisations receive much needed support, recognition and visibility. This year, 20 charities will benefit from the event — a testament to the generosity of our partners and the spirit of racing. We are proud to be racing for good and knowing that every stride makes a difference. The final field with their Charities is listed below:- R140,000 will be awarded to the charity paired with the winning horse, R100,000 for the charity paired with the 2nd placed, horse, R70,000 to the charity paired with the 3rd placed horse, R50,000 to the charity paired with the 4th placed horse and R40,000 to each of the remaining charities. The Allied Steelrode On A Mission Charity Mile is carded as race 7 on Saturday’s programme and the field will face the starter at 15:25. Been a choisanda fan leading up to the charity mile but will need a Gavin lerena masterclass to win from 18 , Atticus finch last run was eye catching and if not a prep for a second summer cup victory , looks the one to beat

Fancy these :-
R4) Warm Reception - whilst only a Maiden winner, try and watch the replay, looked a little green cornering but once given her head, quickened really smartly. That was on the inside course, the stand-side track should suite her style of running and the distance shouldn't be a problem. The draw must be a concern, but she was quick away on debut, so hoping she gets away on terms. She sdid open 7.5/1 earlier in the week, there has been some support into 5/1, think the current price of 9/2 is a betting adjustment because of the scratchings.
R5) Whispering Death, despite the drift in the market, opened 10/1, now trading at 16.5/1, still feel he is a lively runner. Wasn't the worst comeback effort after being gelded, from a fairly decent draw, if Yeni can get him in a handy position for nothing, think he can feature in the finish.
overall, a very tricky card.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Take note of the jockey booking for Witch Hazel, and the money hasn't stopped, just shortened into 18/10 right now, opened 7/2

Very competitive card - added to the fact that we don't have a clue about the draws down the straight (as it is the return to the stand-side course) - I am playing conservatively just for the enjoyment

Also heard a bit of rain during the week so the first race draw bias will be very interesting

Everything looks perfect 🥰
Finding winners not easy, first two races difficult
African Pride hard to beat plus hope Stergio wins the 4th 😉
Last night repaired the daily local damage
Good Punting 👍
