G20 VS U2 WOWY š
5 months 5 days ago
G20 or U2
Good morning, Clan,
It would appear that the G20 is taking place āwith or without youā, Donald.
I understand that Donald has an issue with South Africa ā but for all the wrong reasons. A few hours of ENCA would show him what the real problems are. Itās shocking viewing and once again highlights the pathetic state of our judicial system versus crime.
Shahan on ENCA is superb ā sharp, composed, and takes no prisoners.
Thereās plenty of window dressing going on in Joburg for the G20, but as fast as they fix the traffic lights, someone steals the cables. š¢
Itās a pity that proper service delivery isnāt the norm. Many people are still without water, but Iām sure the visitors will manage a few JWB āBluesā š¤¬
Health update
My recent trip to visit the grandkids took an unexpected turn, as I ended up back in hospital š„.
Let me say, though ā the facilities at Hillcrest Busamed are world-class.
The doctors and staff were superb, and even the food was excellent š.
Alright, my medical bills have now overtaken my bottle store and racing accounts š ā but letās get back to the track.
Weāve seen some good horses running lately as we build up to the Betway Summer Cup, which I hope to attend. The Cape season also looks a cracker.
Some of my current fancies (in no particular order):
Golden Palm, Africa Pride, Gimme Rules, Hazy Dazy, The Equator, Buffalo Storm Cody, Jan Van Goyen, Reet Petite, Showgirl, and Kingdundee.
Good horses š make for good racing ā and Golden Palm š“ should light up any racecourse.
Iām avoiding ante-post punts for now, but Golden Palm looks worth a crack at 16/10 for the WSB Cape Fillies Guineas.
Weekend Highlights
Rugby
Last weekendās standouts for me were Scotland and South Africa ā how good are the Boks?
This weekend:
Scotland should edge Argentina, but it wonāt be easy.
Italy vs SA ā no contest for the World Champions.
England vs the All Blacks could go either way; I wouldnāt rule out a draw.
Wales (1/5) should beat Japan, but this Welsh side is far from convincing.
Ireland should prove too strong for Australia.
Football
Newcastle face an impressive Manchester City side ā hopefully the home fans can help them avoid defeat.
The Gunners should continue their winning form and see off London rivals Tottenham.
NHRA
Some fascinating debates happening lately, with Greg Bortz and James Goodman delivering excellent podcasts ā worth checking out on the site.
Moderation reminder
A quick note: our policy remains firm ā no personal attacks on fellow Clan members, especially when posting under a pseudonym.
We had to delete a couple of posts this week (a rare thing), so please think before you post.
As Robbie Burns wisely said: āO wad some Power the giftie gie us / To see oursels as others see us.ā
Full weekend racing venues and commentary will be up on the site soon.
Top-class Irish band and still brilliant live... With or Without You:
Good punting š

G20 in SA is turning into a non event.
Trump
Milei
Putin cant travel
Cyril will hand over to nobody.
Trump is going to punish SA once the G20 is in his hands. Not for the white "Genocide" but for their Isreal case, their support of Iran and Oil purchases, posible arms and tech supply. And their attitude towards Hamas and Hezbollah.
USA GDP 32 TRILLION dollars
SA GDP 400 BILLION dollars
USA produce our annual GDP in just over 4 days.
We cant win this fight.

At least three Chinese car manufacturers are considering setting up CKD vehicle production facilities in South Africa, according to Mikel Mabasa, CEO of Naamsa | the Automotive Business Council.Speaking at the State of the Motor Industry (SOMI) event hosted by Toyota South Africa recently, Mabasa said that Chinese automakers were currently taking their international expansion plans to greater heights.

Whats the use of all these summits when there are no jobs in South Africa, I've been unemployed for over 2 years and most jobs are BEE. Trump needs to step into this country and sort all this shit.

Unemployed for two years, how do you support your punting, things can't be that bad then, why bother looking for employment?

The only time that help and Trump fit together is when Trump can help himselfĀ

I understand how that might look from the outside, but I take responsibility for how I manage my finances. I budget carefully and prioritize whatās important to me. Being unemployed doesnāt mean being inactive ā Iāve been using this period to upskill, look for the right opportunities, and stay productive in other ways. Iām actively seeking employment because I want stability and growth, not just to get by.

You have a very short memory, remember DOGE, the waste, fraud and abuse detectives, led by none other than South African born Elon, well , think they've fired more peeps than they have employed, turning to Trump is not the answer, not that he cares about SA.

Thatās one way to look at it, but itās not quite the full picture. DOGE and the movement around it were never meant to be traditional employers or institutions ā they represent decentralization and innovation, not bureaucracy. Elonās approach may seem ruthless, but itās often about cutting inefficiency to make room for progress.
