5 months 23 hours agoSome horses do not act on Poly (even the 'improved' surface) - so imo scratchings make sense - the decision could have been made earlier, but no one knows what the weather does - imagine the outcry if they moved to Poly, but it is a perfectly dry day with good goingMy point was that maybe the option goes out earlier so that potential scratching can be done. This way there aren't all the unexpected betting moves on the morning of the race.
I don't understand the scratchings because of the surface change. This is not the old unmaintained surface, the new poly surface is possibly the fairest to race on in KZN.
Has a survey been done with the Vets & Trainers? How are horses post racing on the new surface? More or less leg & joint problems?
Please RACE Coast, do not become complacent like Gold Circle and treat punters and Owners like mushrooms.
