Simply, what we need is CONSISTENCY, the NHRA has a tough job no doubt, just like the international rugby ref's. What makes people angry is inconsistency and the NHRA do themselves no favour's continually being subjective as opposed to objective and consistent.
The sectional and fractional times as well as the head on footage proves Moodley totally wrong and shows his decision as totally subjective. The rules never have to benefit one over another, they just need to be applied objectively and consistently.
A simple example is, if Legislate was awarded the July then the following year Power King cannot be the winner for the same interference and vise versa. Those two decisions remain a disgraceful stain in SA Horseracing. Simply because they are not consistent.
Little should receive the same fine and holiday as Van Niekerk. It is clear in the head-on that he takes no action while the horse shifts drastically. He knows, as well as everyone watching, that if he takes a stride to correct the horse, he loses the race. He causes interference to 11, costing it at least one place and then bumps the horse traveling faster than him in the finish. This is not only dangerous, it's cynical.
To be clear, I don't care what the rules are. They need to be applied consistently, or you just come off as a tainted and fixed sport.

It is easy to objectively work out based on the footage and times. Measure the speed the horses were travelling at 3-6 strides short of the line. Put two dots on a computer maintain the speeds and see who wins. Little was not even sanctioned for the bump. BTW, the 50m on the other course has nothing to do with this.
As far as the Fortune incident is concerned, it is disgraceful. So, when he drops his hands again and the mount loses he will be given a 90 day holiday. But punters will lose and you do not give their money back. He should have been given 2-4 weeks for dropping his hands or is that not a rule.
The NHRA continues to cover themselves in something, and it's not glory.

Re: NHRA RULING
4 months 3 weeks agoThis was at Del Mar.
As a punter I would like consistent and strict rules to apply in races. And consistency across the various stipes.
We have for the last 10 years or so had guidleines and not rules and jockeys have used this to get away with some very dubious riding.
Punters should call for stricter rules and less guidelines.

That is how the rule should read, no ambiguity, and should be applied in SA
