An interesting card, although a bit tricky. Fourie seems to have a nice card and is probably the jockey to follow.
Race 1. Quite open as most of these are lightly raced and not yet exposed. I'm surprised that la Patrona is not favourite, and she looks value at 7/2
Race 2. Hazel Green looks a cut above these and should win. Lark's Song and Destiny's Dream have scope to improve.
Race 3 Seven No Trump is first choice, but respect for Iona Castle, Kubu, Red Taffety and Gimme the Power
race 4 Tricky handicap maiden. Madra Rua is the best horse, but has to lump 61kg. Ocean Sky consistent and should challenge. Quite a few others with chances at the weights.
Race 5 Whirlwind has been off for 3 months, but if fit and well and building on her debut should win. If she fluffs her lines, then Panjandrum and Theleia look next best.
race 6. Competitive race. Rose Woott is on the up and is a narroow first choice from Balzi Rossi and the older Wehaveasituation. Double Dash has been off form, but is now off a very handy rating, and can bounce back to upset.
Race 7. Open race where you may need to go wide. Pentolina was a bit unlucky last time and is fair value at 13/2. American Beauty has no weight and a plum draw and is a juicy 12/1 if fit.
race 8 Quite a weak race and hence an upset is quite possible. Man of Consequence and Astronomical Boy look the two best.
race 9 Open race. Boozy Susie has good form and scope for improvement.
Our filly, Elusive Gift's last run can be ignored as she came back sore and was coughing along with a number of others in the yard. She has been working well although she did miss a couple of days work with a minor niggle.
She is a light framed filly and easy to get fit. Her rating may be a bit high, as she was getting the 4kg claimer when she won. She still has scope for improvement, and I think that she has an ew chance if she does not need the run.
