Western Cape Pick Six Turnover, collapses 29% year on year

I have attached the turnover for CPT December 2025 and 2024. Comparing like for like meetings in the calendar.

I would be shiotting myself if this was my table. In particular the 2 big race days which drop 33% a full third of ur income gone.

I dont see any alarm bells for the various executives or big wigs.

As a punter this concerns me. The lower the turnover the lower the stake cheques. The higher the risk of tote maipluation and the higher the risk of chrismas trainers landing gambles at the punter expense.

Me thinks the operators and the bigwigs had better have an urgent pow wow about tote turn over. and come up with workable solutions.

I dont believe cutting overheads will increase pool . Punters are impacted by smaller pools not smaller head counts.

Punters want ?????

Morning Sly

Have the punters actually gone ?

We have all these bloody games over and above racing and sport.

I'm sure if you take Hollywood and WSB that the turnover has not dropped but maybe the allocation of reporting has changed?

Many prefer the open bet for large exotics and win and place anomalies have also made the punters take fixed odds......

Plus the big two are putting this money back into sponsorship July, MET etc.
It might be the punters money, however its going back 😉

Maybe there is no need to panic as the perception is that racing is experiencing an upswing?

Good Punting 👍

This punter wants only one thing....... make the game clean and fair. Police it evenly across all jurisdictions.... enforce ride to the line, punish trainers for sending out horses for 'a run' a 'freshener' etc.  EVERY runner should be a trier on merit or should not leave the stable.

It is difficult enough to catch the exotics just studying racing form.... now one must read stable minds, evaluate the accuracy of MR , which is the stable 'elect' {friendly wave in PE direction} ....

Form is a lottery in this country .....

.....I would not discount some of this erosion also going to the open bet merchants where some who do offer tote options..... yet when bet is placed it then defaults to an open bet option.....and could be because an algorithm has calculated an acceptable risk.....huh

Absolute fucking bollocks, the bookmakers who offer the TOTE do it through a different portall

It's then up to you wether you take the Actual TOTE or play the bookies open bet

Magi , you are spot on , I have been in this industry a long time and I know so many exotic players who still have a punt head on but no longer invest in the exotics , have seen a few resignations lately which i believe can only be good for tbe sport

I wouldn't expect any reaction from the powers that be.
The chairman barely acknowledges the role of punters, he has even stated that punters don't play as big a part as they think they do.
Punters provide cashflow on a daily basis. The benefactors save the jobs, punters pay the salaries.
Its a loss making business we are told, perhaps the objective is to squander Owen's money in the most glorious way possible.

Why would you do that Longshot... no matter which stable horse wins, the P6 seems to get caught.... what a coincidence 🤷‍♂️

The Tote has become the best and most consistent tipster in SA. The wild swings in betting and payouts on the Tote are so coincidental that a Dr of Logistics couldn't calculate the odds.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Maybe the smaller owners that have re-invested in horses are the fools and punters that study form believe in El Dorado.

The RACE Coast media machine was fast on the draw when answering the NHRA challenge. Even SANTA chimed in however both keep deathly silent with regards to the ff.
1. The lights at Greyville going off during the last 200m of a race.
2. Racing being delayed 1.5hrs for an announcement and Christmas party. At one stage we were trying to have races every 20min...
3. No feedback regarding the investigation into the "varified times" at Scottsville...the silence reminds me of GC & the NHRA... only answer when your right.
4. Name the people responsible and in charge of, Sectional Timing, course maintenance at each course as well as Summerveldt.

It already appears that SANTA in my opinion is not acting independently. Please prove me wrong and drive an investigation into the sectional timing at Scottsville.

It seems like some clanners have not evolved judged by the comments I'm reading.

Simply put, the tote has no influence on the stakes pot. That ship sailed with the Phumelela thieves.

Wake up and realize we race because of the generosity ( or stupidity ) of two people.  The end
