Politics continues to dominate the headlines as the world lurches from one conflict to the next.

Donald Trump remains front and centre — full of self-belief and seemingly intent on changing the world… or perhaps ruling it. His involvement in Venezuela and Iran raised few eyebrows, but Greenland? That’s a far trickier puzzle to solve.

Love him or loathe him, one thing is certain: he has a knack for getting his own way — often through sheer force of personality and unapologetic bullying.

Racing – Pegasus World Cup Turf

South African interest will be high on Saturday night as One Stripe breaks from gate 4 in the Pegasus World Cup Turfat Gulfstream Park.

The R1-million Grade 1 contest sees him quoted at 12/1 in early betting, making him fifth favourite in a competitive 12-horse field.

Champion jockey Gavin Lerena has flown across the Atlantic to reunite with his old partner, and the race goes off at 23:54 SA time — well worth an each-way look in the Hollywood colours. 

Cheltenham – Saturday

A solid card awaits favourite-backers, with modest exotic payouts expected.

Sir Gino should prove too strong for The New Lion, while Grey Dawning looks a banker — a confident double on paper.

All eyes remain on Constitution Hill, who is expected to run on the flat as connections decide whether he lines up against Sir Gino in the Champion Hurdle.

Local Action

It’s PE today, where Alan Greeff sends out a couple of strong chances. Zietsman has a few runners at big prices — hopefully George can cash a few cheques.

I can’t oppose El Romiachi, so a swinger with Richardthefearless feels the sensible play.

And don’t forget — an early double vodka at the Vaal on Saturday is practically compulsory.

As for the WSB Cape Town Met, next week’s racing looks mouth-watering. Double Grand Slam shapes as the banker in the big Pick 6, while See It Again still looks destined to come right and land the main race.
