Weekend wrap up on Freedom Day
5 hours 3 minutes ago - 4 hours 47 minutes ago
Morning Clan — Happy Freedom Day 🇿🇦
I’ll keep the politics on mute today and let sport do the talking…
What a weekend it’s been. Romantic Warrior continues to rewrite the record books — now sitting on HK$271.46M (£25.7M) in earnings after another dominant display. That’s 23 wins and 5 places from 30 starts… simply elite.
And then there’s Ka Ying Rising — 20 wins in a row. We could be watching one of the greatest sprinters we’ve ever seen. Next stop? Chasing down legends like Black Caviar 25 and Winx 33.
Over jumps, Jonbon was scratched, preserving that incredible record — always one to follow.
London Marathon Headlines - I am not a runner myself but was a bookies runner many years ago.
A special mention to Sabastian Sawe, who smashed the two-hour mark at the London Marathon, a performance many are saying could “move the goalposts for marathon running”. A phenomenal achievement and a sign of just how far endurance sport continues to evolve.
Punchestown Festival Focus
All eyes now turn to the Punchestown Festival — and it’s stacked:
El Etait Temps (Hollywood-linked runner) takes on a red-hot Champion Chase field.
The Willie Mullins machine is primed for another big week
Gold Cup showdown: Fact To File vs Gaelic Warrior — looks a proper duel
Teahupoo should dominate the Stayers
Lossiemouth sets the standard in the Champion Hurdle
Local Action
Back home, the sun’s out and it’s a big day at Turffontein — all eyes on Buffalo Storm Cody as the banker.
Football Watch
Tension building in both England and Scotland…
A two-horse race in the Premier League
A three-way scrap up north
And yes… Hearts still hanging in there — dare to dream of that parade 👀
Enjoy the racing, enjoy the football, and enjoy the day.
Good punting 👍
