Think the favourites in races (5 - Questioning), (6 - Wish List) & (7 - Tin Pan Alley) will win.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I think this is the (I am not able to select the appropriate phrase) - but in Afrikaans it probably is 'voorskou' of the 'Champions Season' - and probably more apt as it had been the case for the recent past 'Champions Seasons' -
  • Would all the 'glory hunters' first of all qualify for the 'July' (and when would the 'First Log' be released ?) - and secondly will they run ? The second scenario looks much more likely - for the prize money and also the 10kg spread in the weights with 'no maximum weight for 3-yr-olds and no minimumm weight for older horses' (and no allowance for females)
  • It is probably quite likely that current ratings (especially for the 3-yr olds) will not stand - but as it stands horses like Trust and Grand Empire are distinctly favored by the weights - especially Trust that will not be entered in the Daily News (at the moment - but then his rating of 110 might lead to him not qualifying for the July) and then Grand Empire - will he be running in the Daily News ?
  • It is probably the first time that horses from the Cape compete against the rest - so who knows what to compare 'apples with apples' at this stage - after today it would be 'more clear' - but then again the Drill Hall is over 1400m (and the Guineas' over 1600m) - so given that the July is the target, no horse will be at prime condition
Imo in 'usual years' I would fancy a 'pre-emptive strike' at A/P odds (some more successful than others) - but I think that the odds being offered are not that great and also much are likely to change - so an A/P wager seems 'risky' at the moment ...
