Regulation, s/s 105 who endured a three wide passage, and pacemaker
Trust, who lacked the finishing kick of the top two.
The
Ultimate King remains ultra consistent. He challenged all the way to be fourth just .85 lengths behind – s/s 104.
In a preceding Conditions race, used as a prep by most of the entrants with G1 targets pending,
Okavango won another slow run affair. The jog/sprint scenario doesn’t prove much other than the winner can quicken up smartly from a handy position, more so when not tested early. With a sectional upgrade, (not an exact science)
Okavango merits a speed rating of around 107.
Miss World s/s 103 + impressed in the turf sprint staged later on the card. Now with Adam Azzie having changed yards from Greg Ennion, the well-handicapped mare blasted through a sub 22 second closing fraction to win going away from
Umzingeli Wenyathi.
At the start of the year, she was one of the best one-time winners you will find but is now, belatedly, adding to her winning tally. Maintaining these triple digit speed figs will assuredly lead to her winning more races.
King Harald s/s 96 won the
Secretariat Stakes, for 3YO’s, at Turffontein on Sunday. This was a career best performance by Roy Magner’s
Erik the Red gelding.
