Last year this race was a classic and Energumene travelled out of Ireland for his first time ever and made Shishkin work for the win.
Now we have 3 runners, to may be,maybe ,run in atrocious conditions.
Wouldn't it,if possible,be better to postpone ,open it up again and race in better conditions at a later date..

It’s forecasted to be minus 2 early doors Saturday morning, tee shirt weather, and will be 2 by the time racing supposed to commence. I doubt that the meeting will go ahead.

The clash between Energumene and Edwardstone in the Clarence House Chase will take place at Cheltenham next Saturday.

Haydock's big-race Saturday meeting must pass an 8am inspection on raceday after an upturn in conditions meant its planned check on Friday was not needed.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright said: "There is just a little bit left to come out, but we expect to be fit to race today after a milder night than forecast, which has left us in a better place than we expected. So we have called an 8am precautionary inspection for tomorrow.
