Now other countries have just jumped on and banned South Africa from travel, just because we were honest enough to say a new variant has been discovered, but you will find it probably has been discovered by other countries who have not let it be known yet for the reason of being targeted.
This is another major blow, travel industry and the knock on effect. I know of one guest house who have a few months ago bonded to the max and extra overdraft as they were starting to recover aswell as dec,Jan,feb they fully booked with overseas groups... Very sad situation

Last Saturday evening my son ,completely unannounced walked through our front door.
He lives near Windsor and we have -for obvious reasons-not seen him and his family for 3 years.
In situations like this only mothers cry .Don't believe it!
Last night we played Dominoes which is one of our favourite family games.Lots of fun and too much wine.
About 01.45am I went to the bedroom and the TV was running on Sky and I picked up
the Red Covid scenario and the following facts.
Britain has declared Southern African countries banned for incoming South African Citizens.
If you are a British Citizen you have to return by Sunday 04.00am to avoid 10 days
isolation in an expensive hotel room near Heathrow.
As it is you will have to isolate for 10 days at home....along with your family.
To assist you to get home the British Government will not receive any DIRECT flights
from SA to UK.
After 2 frenetic hours he has taken PE-Joburg,Joburg to an African city, connection to Paris and flight to London and isolation for 10 days at home,if if if he makes London by 04.00am.Otherwise 10 days in expensive hotel room in London.
He is British citizen, twice Pfizered and runs his own business.
His return flight was sunday evening on a DIRECT flight to Paris/London with Air France. Now of no use.
He just came out for a week to see his Mum and Dad.

I hope he gets back in time. This entire scenario is ridiculous, if you're a citizen or resident of a country, paying taxes, and you're in another country for whatever reason while your government closes it's borders, repatriation should be at their expense, no paying R40k a night for hotel quarantine and jumping over endless hurdles, that's insane. How is that justified?

There are so many related stories it's tragic 😥
What a Fu## Up
Shooting from the hip does not help
Plus we still have our born leader to have a family meeting, it's bloody scary 😨

My daughter who is emigrating to Australia to join her Aussie fiance ,spent the last week with me.She is booked to fly to Australia to join him in Jan.
My son who is resident in Dubai and whom I haven't seen in 4 years was due to spend time with us over Xmas and introduce us to his Irish wife to be.He told me a month ago that the next wave was immanent ( he is in the medical field) and he and his partner could not afford to be stranded in RSA and might have to cancel at the last minute.
Yes I understand that lives have to be protected, but if this new variant has been discovered in RSA its certainly prevalent in other counties too.
Why dont WHO hand this Covid 19 over to the ANC,they surely have a excellent track record of destroying anything they touch..
At least Mamma Kopdoek will be able to fund her ex husband's legal fee's with her contraband booze sales over the not so festive season.
