IFR estimate per age group
(to December 2020)
Age group IFR
0–34 0.004%
35–44 0.068%
45–54 0.23% - MY AGE GROUP
55–64 0.75%
65–74 2.5%
75–84 8.5%
85 + 28.3% - @CNC'S AGE GROUP
@cnc...for anyone under 65, the infection fatality rate (IFR) is estimated at less than 1% (greater than 99% survival rate) and these estimates are from when the virus was more severe (with vaccine availability almost zero) as with each variant it has become less severe (as is the norm with any virus)...granted more infectious as it tries to spread to survive...
I do somewhat agree with your assessment for your age group...
...stay safe and healthy...wouldn't want anything lese for you and anyone else...

I am a long way from 65 tnaicker, maybe the reason why I am so pro the jab is because over 160k have died here from covid and plenty of them with underlying health conditions. I had cancer thus I am vulnerable so it was a no brainier to have all three jabs

@cnc...just this morning I read that Anthony Fauci was advising that Americans (and the rest of the countries may follow this lead - I'm pretty certain our "esteemed" leaders in SA eventually will) may just have to get used to annual boosters...
Taking the "vaccines" thus makes people dependent on them going forward...a form of "substance dependence"...some people in the at-risk groups do need their immune systems assisted but to make people with healthy immune systems dependent on something that neither stops infection or transmission is wrong...the people with the healthy immune systems are the ones that can get infected and kill the virus before mutation or transmission so keeping them so is best for everyone...no need to also make them dependent...
Just remember that the 1918 pandemic lasted 2 years from start to end (one year of which was during the tail end of World War 1), through THREE waves and with no vaccines available...and it was more infectious and severe than the current virus...with all the interventions made now, some places (some with high vaccination rates) are into 4th waves...how we have retrogressed...
One last thing, for now...when a person (vaccinated or not) gets infected, how do they determine who they got infected by? The default assumption is that it was the unvaccinated when there is no conclusive way of making that assumption...you can be unvaccinated and uninfected just as you can be vaccinated and infected...I did give the example of our little office of 5 people...one of the 2 vaccinated persons has tested positive twice (once in October and once last week) while none of the three of us unvaccinated have exhibited even the slightest symptoms that could indicate infection with the virus...
Stay safe and healthy...

I’m in the states. Can you give me any up to date information on how it’s going in SA currently? With omicron and hospitalizations/deaths? I would appreciate it. Trying to make the best decisions for myself and my family going forward. Thank you

@cnc...do know that you not close to 65 and did have healthy issues in the recent past...so you are in an at risk category and the vaccine does offer some protection to you so I'm happy that it is available...
Each person makes evaluation of the risk they are exposed to based on their specific circumstances...there is no one treatment to fit all as has been advanced...and yet vaccines are being mandated...just not on...

Averaging about 18000-20000 daily new infections but daily deaths have not touched 40 in last 2 weeks since new variant discovered...

Blazer the cases are sky rocketing in sa but severe illness and deaths are low. Myself are 40 and had the jab. Personally I think it's the way to go. It is what it is

Cnc306.......
I've had my encounters with vaxxes more than the average Joe Citizen I think.
As a late teenager and after a strenous exercise session in the football field, I was suddenly coughing blood.
And so to the hospital where I was admitted that night, spent a week in there.
The nurses came around 3 times a day, each time they put a jab in the buttocks.
After hospital treatment was a course of Streptomycin injections for 3 months straight.
Used to pop in early to the Clinic at 7 am, get the jab in the butt and then get to the workplace.
No fears from the management and the office staff about getting infected with a notifiable and contagious disease, the PTB that I was getting treated for.
You trusted the white coats back in the day.
You took the treatment because you were sick, nobody forced you to take any vaxx for the Flu or whatever as a preventative.
