Schools . 3 weeks closure but allow for schools to make their own choice if they wanna stay open.
Strengthen the District council structures.

anything else will be a bonus.

Hope no long waffle on how well he and his experts are managing the Virus.

Probably school announcement?
Taxi industry law breaking?
Explanation on how they recording deaths?
Would love to hear some moves on behalf of restaurants, bottles stores, etc?
Possibly a sorry to the Nation on erratic and bad calls up to this stage, in destroying economy.

Any thoughts and fears ?? Or hopes...... 🤞🙏😷

Another waste of time.

Schools closing?
Plenty grey areas.

Tough on corruption???

How many more years does he need.
What does bringing his comrades to book actual mean, or does he mean focus on the normal punters trying to buy a bottle of klippies at double the price?

Day 120 of lockdown .

The President has spoken again but what he says remains cause for concern, more depressing and worrying times ahead.

However its July weekend and lets focus on racing
Again please get your competition entries in early plus your bets on, especially the pick 6.
Or a quartet?

Morning Dave,

Firstly, last night was the FIRST time that I didnt watch the Presidents address. Deliberate choice as if it was anything important, I would find out on the news later. And mainly due to the panel discussion at the same time. I was not going to miss Snaith and De Kock on the same panel.

Sadly though, it was a very amicable discussion. I expected some drama but the entertainment wasnt there :(

As for the July, I couldnt sleep last night. I tried but just couldnt dose off. The anxiety has got me! I admit, I dont have an outright fancy. In fact, after listening to all the YOUTUBE panel discussions, there's so many different views. I think I can now make a case for EVERY single horse as to why they CANT win! I have confused myself beyond logic and paralysis through analysis.

Oh well, today is the equivalent of Xmas Eve for me. The excitement is real. I cant wait to spend the day with my old man and watch racing and open some fine red wine and bourbon to close. If im still standing by then, I will be emptying my boots on Vistula.

Good luck all. This time of year is OURS as horse crazy people. So f*&&k everything else around us and let us enjoy this time of year. It doesnt come by too often and at least we get to see our thoroughbreds in action.

During the last week or so one cannot help but notice the volume of inserts on Youtube 'analysing' the July.

I have also read with interest what the 'clanners' have to say about the race in general and their selections in particular. As usual I am left with the following conclusions:

1.) Are you a punter or a desperado? You don't HAVE to have a bet on this race. If you are desperate to gamble on Saturday, July 25th then may I humbly suggest that you focus your BETTING energies on Jhb - where Strydom & Khumalo might do very well against limited opposition - and simply watch the July and its accompanying races for ENTERTAINMENT. There is no difference between 4/1 on a maiden in Jhb and 4/1 on Rainbow Bridge apart from the reality that the Jhb maiden may be meeting a field that can barely walk........

2.) So now that you have thoroughly confused yourself with all the conflicting opinions ask yourself the next question : If the 'experts' are actually that expert why does the Pick 6 habitually pay B-I-G. As does the quartet and many other bets. Maybe that's because racing is still a combination of form and luck with 'luck' playing a much larger role than many would care to admit to.

3.) When the majority of punters review the wreckage of their betting accounts on Saturday evening they should be duly chastened by the realisation that they were really pushing the envelope by taking on a succession of accomplished opponents in big fields with multiple 'live' runners.

4.) If you are patient you will get plenty of opportunities to back horses at attractive prices 'in the worst of company' during the year. Just not at Greyville on Saturday. Don't fall for the betting hysteria. It's a marketing fest attached to a vacuum cleaner.

5.) If you can't be dissuaded then use a method that I employed quite successfully on the July before I became a 'born again ex-punter'. ( No! I didn't discover religion. I just woke up and smelled the coffee thanks almost exclusively to the way in which the sport was (and is) being run). Turn the betting upside down and radically reduce your stake as soon as you get to the horses in single figures.

6.) My picks are :

It's My Turn - How much damage can you do at 33/1? I could actually do something meaningful with R100k/R3k if he won whilst it's not a financial disaster if he flops.
Bunker Hunt - Works out for me although that means nothing in a race of this size. Unfortunately the value has gone.

Horses I would not back but would enjoy seeing win :

Rainbow Bridge
It's My Turn

Horses I would LOVE to lay but would take it on the chin if they arrived :

Vardy
Got The Greenlight
Twist Of Fate
Golden Ducat

Lastly - beware ALL of the Snaith runners. They now have so many horses in their care they probably don't know what day of the week it is; so are prone to producing a winner they had no idea was likely to arrive until they greet it in the winners' box.

This lockdown is now a trainwreck. with Government and Business in opposite corners, hunkering down for the fight ahead.
i cant see government moving on Alcohol or Smokes until active cases starts to drop. so end September/Mid October unless courts force their hand.
Technically Western Cape could go to a lower level of lockdown than the rest of SA. that might come to pass if the DA are up for the fight.
Schools date are cast in melted jelly and will just keep moving until they accept the year is lost for public schools. Agin WC may be the odd one out.
for businesses that have been devastated we will have to hope for friendly foreign investment into SMME sector. it wont be coming from Government.

1ST week October is going to be war. that is when the SASSA grant amounts revert back to the pre COVID value. If ANC stands fast on that the Rural areas will burn. i see them backing down and extending the higher grant value done with more borrowed high interest bearing loans/bonds.
June 2021 is possibly where SA will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Sylvester -

The light you predict we might be seeing at the end of the tunnel in June 2021 would have to be a fire as it is highly likely that Eskom may well have turned up its toes by then through a combination of a paralysed economy, ongoing 'maintenance', non-payment, chronic electricity theft and the distinct possibility that the government will have run out of funds to bale it out! Lol.

It’s day 121 and it’s July day.

Thank you for some scary posts on the road ahead for the future of SA.

I am also extremely concerned of how the Government is handling the current state of affairs.

I am putting things aside for July day and highlight the following:

Remember and take bets early.
Remember the compos.
Plenty info on site and build up shows via Tellytrack.
Rainbow Bridge must be a great ew to give you a free bet.
If you have a photo to send us for the gallery, it will certainly be different this year.

I have a busy day ahead, here is a song for Cyril and his speeches.

Good morning on day 122

Well the July is over for another year, the money and booze finished and woke up in a strange bed, but what the hell.

Congratulations to the winners of the competitions.

Well done to Enable.
Well done to Snaiths and well done to Candice Dawson.

I was sad to hear the passing of Peter Green “O Well”
Anyone who visited the Hangover on a Friday night, would have heard scotia doing his version of the old Fleetwood Mac song

O Well ...........RIP

It’s day 123, yes over 4 months as the president and his top team continue to go from hero to zero.

Well the July is over and at least the bookies had a good day, not sure if anyone caught the pick 6?

As always, if it’s not power or water, today it’s the emails that are down😪

On the racing front it’s Goodwood this week, Stradivarius and Battaash to mention a couple of the stars on display, great racing.

Just a reminder and we can dedicate the song to the cabinet that are on the fiddle.

Day 124 , with 298 deaths yesterday.

As far as the news, nothing unusual.

Power stations going down, R125m tender under investigation, guilty people taking leave of absence, Steinhoff pay 16.5 billion Markus looks well, we borrow 70 billion so new cars for all the presidents men.

On a serious note the alcohol industry remains under pressure and it’s value chain.

Back to Glorious Goodwood.
I did mention Stradivarius 6/10 yesterday and feel it’s only fair to show Santiago 2/1.
We are aware of the massive weight difference 15lbs or almost 7 kilos over 2 miles.

You be the judge, my money is on the champ, Good Punting
