Our races washed out at Fairview last Friday.
Four runners at Fairview this Friday.
* Fort Dawn and *Im in Charge in race 5. Fair run by Fort Dawn after his long layoff and he should have come on from that. At the weights he must have a fair ew chance if he builds on that effort. The other fellow needs to improve.
* Encryption takes on a strong field in race 6, but this is her best trip and she can pick up a cheque.
* Mistress of Means is dropping in the ratings, but a tricky draw in a big field, so will need to bounce back to form and needs luck in the running. Very open race.

No shows on Friday and sadly Encryption bled so have decided to retire her.
Her brother, JP Twothousand defied a steep rise in merit rating and the loss of the claim, but won another good race on Sunday. For a horse that initially struggled to win a maiden, he is now looking quite smart with 4 wins from his last 5 starts.
Mhlabeni runs in race 5 at Fairview today, and he won a good race last time so hopefully will again be competitive.

On Wednesday, Umthombo Wolwazi has his second run at Greyville race 1 -( brother to Encryption and JP 2000).
A decent 3rd on debut at the Vaal, and should improve on that run. Quite a competitive juvenile race but he should be in the mix from a nice draw, if he takes to the poly.
Indigo Fields runs in race 6. Outclassed in much stronger last time when fading after doing a lot up front. Back in handicap company and on poly also a good draw should go close.

Co-breeder of Sound of Warning, which has an ew chance in the SA Fillies Sprint. I think that Big Burn can score a 5th Gr1 winner for Elusive Fort. Captain Ransom must be respected as she has a very good turn of foot and top milers and middle distance horses often win sprints especially when running fresh.
*Fynbos runs in race 5 at kenilworth on Sunday. Very open race and she has as much chance as anything else.
The ever consistent JP Twothousand carded to run again on Thursday at the Vaal race 6. He just keeps on improving.

Very good run by Sound of Warning in 3rd. Big Burn below best in 4th.
Glad that Fynbos picked up another race- overdue.
The handicapper appears to have caught up with JP for now, but still only a length off them.

Two runners at Fairview on Friday. Pretty Betty takes on a strong field in race 6 and not a great draw. She is at too big a price as on her best form she can win.
Jean Paul runs in the 8th. The 1000m may be a bit short for him, but if he is not to outpaced he can run into the money.

Pretty Betty ran a good race in 2nd. Jean Paul bumped at start and couldn’t get properly into the race after that.

Indigo Fields runs on Monday at Greyville. Back to 1000m on the poly which should suit. Competitive field, anything can happen.

We have 3 very nice yearlings on the CTS Farm Sale on 19th.
Lot 8 filly Erupt- GoldandSilver. Erupt has got off to a good start. This is a very smart filly and the mare has two winners from two runners.
Lot 16 Colt Quasillo- Julila. The only Quasillo on the sale, he has great stats from few runners. A stunning colt, and the mare has had 4 winners from 6 runners.
Lot 83 filly Elusive Fort- Call of the Hunt. The only Elusive Fort on the sale. Mare has had two winners from two runners. Family of Hunting Tower. Athletic filly, will most likely stay 2000m and further.

Indigo Fields back to favourite course and distance 3rd at long odds.
Two runners at Fairview on Friday
*I’m in Charge in race 3. We are hoping that he will enjoy the poly as he is better on the sand training track than he shows in his races. He is a few kilos under sufferance on what he has shown so far, and he needs to show improvement.
* Vic Falls in race 8. Unfortunately she has soundness issues when under pressure in a race. Is carrying 2kg too much as the weights for this race were finalised before her drop from 77 to 73.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Tuesday.
Quasimodo in race 3. Showed good improvement second start and will get better more ground. Could upset the favourite and must include for trifectas and quartets.
*Treasure Hunt in race 6. Very consistent and game, and gets a good draw. A bit worse off at the weights with a few others like Crackling Rose and Margin Call, but she still has scope for improvement and a good ew chance.

*Drama Queen runs in race 9 at Scottsville on Wednesday. An open race and she has a nice draw and an ew shout

A very good week so far with both Treasure Hunt and Drama Queen winning competitive races. In both cases excellent rides by the young jockeys, helped by nice draws.
Elusive Fort also a double at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

The Erupt half sister to Treasure Hunt surprisingly did not get her reserve at the Farm sale and has gone into pre training. She is a very nice filly and If anyone is interested in taking a share give me a call.

3 runners at Fairview on Friday
*Grey Princess in race 5. She has lost form but is now way down in the ratings and jumps from a fair draw. If she runs anywhere near her ability she would be too strong for this lot, but cannot have confidence as she may have gone sour.
*Miss Jacqueline in race 6. Has not been able to pull a draw in the noms lately, so runs from a very tough draw. Has been below best in PE and just hoping for some improvement.
Mhlabeni in race 7. He has been more consistent lately and jumps from a nice draw. I think he has a fair ew chance in a very competitive lineup.

On Saturday at Kenilworth, Major Attraction runs in race 5, the 1200m Olympic Duel Stakes. She could also have run in the Ladies Mile 1600m. Although she put up a credible sprint in the Sceptre Stakes, her best runs have been at 1400m, although on pedigree a mile should be well within her capabilities. She will be running on strongly and has a chance at the weights, but Whoa Whoa Whoa looks hard to beat.

Kommetdieding carries Elusive Fort’s hopes in the final July field. This will be a much tougher task at the weights than last year against the likes of Linebacker and Do It Again. The three year olds look good enough to challenge strongly, and I make this one of the most open and competitive July’s in years. Last year I had a clear short list of 6 horses and the quartet was easy to find. This year there aren’t many that I can rule out of contention.

A gutsy win by Mhlabeni and a feature race 2nd place for Major Attraction rounds off a very good week for our runners.

I am Who I am runs in race 4 at Vaal on Tuesday. No show in a very strong race on debut and steps up in trip.
Two runners at Durbanville on Wednesday. Nothingelsematters runs in race 5. Ignore first run, and hopefully things go smoothly for him this time.
*Fynbos runs in race 6. Despite the penalty for winning last time, she is reportedly in good shape and can be competitive again in an open race with a small field.

I Am Who I Am improved run but unlucky in that she was badly baulked in the final furlong by the winner which undoubtedly cost her a place. Should not be long before she wins.
Also good improvement by Nothingelsematters but still learning what it’s all about.

Fynbos rather disappointing but came very wide into the straight which may have cost her a couple of lengths. Was 1.5kg out with the winner on the conditions of this race and may still pick up another race before going off to stud.

Elusive Fort a steady stream of winners- his last 30 runners have yielded 6 wins, 6 seconds, 4 thirds and 3 fourth places.

Two runners on Friday at Fairview. Pretty Betty runs in race 5. Carries a big weight and not a great draw but I think that she has a very good winning chance.
Mistress of Means runs in race 6. Very open handicap and hoping that she can earn a cheque. Also a tough draw but has come down in the ratings.

One runner at Greyville on Saturday- co-bred Sound of Warning runs in the Merchants and with the fillies allowance and a fair draw I think that she is a big runner although a tough field.
