Double Distilled faded badly.
Promising debut by Dawn Surprise. Watch next time.

Two runners at Durbanville on Tuesday.
Call to Unite is the one to beat in race 4 if ridden properly. Main dangers are Fly Futura, Jovial and Explosive Speed.
*Lady Renee in race 6 will prefer this trip. Two important scratchings make her job much easier and should earn in a very open contest.

Very impressive by Call to Unite.
Elusive Fort from small numbers so far showing promise as a broodmare sire.
Lady Renee disappointing- perhaps time to go to PE.

One runner at Greyville on Wednesday.
* Pascali runs in race 5. Reverts to the turf, which will be fine. A wide draw, and a very open field. He is fit and well and has an ew chance.

Pascali good win. It seems that he is a bit better on turf with the sting out the ground and a good pace.

One runner at Durbanville on Saturday.
Canford Rose ( half sister to Pascali) runs in race 6. Badly in at the weights, although should enjoy the step up in trip. Would need to show huge improvement to earn.

As expected Canford Rose no show at the weights. Hopefully next time she will be entered in an ordinary handicap.

One runner at Scottsville on Sunday. Common Grounds runs in race 7. Facile winner of his maiden and the step up in trip should not be a problem. If he shows natural further improvement should be a big runner.

Common Grounds went down in the compression mask, and didn’t look happy in it. He was quite strong early on, and took the lead early. Was continually challenged, so never really able to relax in front, but showed a lot of guts and just run out of it late on. Good second, and looks to have scope to improve once he learns to settle.

Two runners at Durbanville on Tuesday.
* Princess Raya runs in race 2. Has not shown much in her runs to date, and is still quite immature. Her work at home has been better than what she has shown in her races. Gets bottom weight but still under sufferance. I think that we could see a much better performance now, and would be thrilled if she could sneak into the minor money.
Lickety Split and Time for Love likely to fight it out.

Exceeder runs in race 5. Poor draw but a smallish field. A very open race and if he repeats his last decent effort could again be involved in the finish.

Some improvement from Pr Raya, but still weak.
Fair run by Exceeder, but the younger horses too good.

One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Aussenkehr runs in race 8. Very competitive field.
He may struggle to win again off this rating.

Good run by Aussenkehr in 3rd, but I believe that the handicapper has him a few pounds too high.

One runner at Fairview on Friday.
*Elusive Jewel in race 8. If she behaves at the start then she has a chance in a very open race, but she has been difficult her last couple.

Elusive Jewel behaved better, but faded out tamely. Disappointing run.

One runner at Turffontein on saturday.
Almond Sea makes her debut in race 1. All unraced so no form. She is a lovely filly and the dam throws them very quick. Hoping that she is another good one from the mare.

Very impressive win by Almond Sea, but sadly overshadowed by the controversy surrounding the trainer and NHRA.
She looks to have a bright future.
Glen Kotzen won the equivalent race in CT on Sunday, but unfortunately the one I bred, Walk With Me, the stable companion to the winner, was scratched due to sore shins, otherwise might have given me the double if he had run. We can dream.

One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. JP Twothousand runs in race 5. 2 good recent runs but those were on the poly. Inside draw in a big field down the Vaal straight might be a challenge. Very open contest and if the draw bias isn’t a problem then he is competitive off his current rating.
