Pleasing win by Lady Renee, but credit must go to Richard for an outstanding ride. Smacked a very harsh 7 points in a race with very thin form, and the 3yo runner up has been lumbered with an 85.

One runner at Turffontein on Saturday. Aussenkehr runs in race 9. A very competitive handicap and he drops down in trip. Not the best of draws, but he usually has pace out the gates. Has struggled somewhat since being pushed up to 95, so the 4kg claimer may be the right move. Hard to assess his chances here as his wins have been over the 1160 straight, but his one run this course over 1200m from a plum draw was equally good.

Good run by Aussenkehr, close up third and could have won if getting a better jump out the gates.

Two runners at Durbanville on Tuesday.
* Princess Raya (bred in partnership) runs in race 4. She was very green on debut, her first time on the grass. Has come on a lot from that run, but is still immature and still needs more time and further.
*Treasure Hunt runs in race 9. We are trying her back over the 1250m, and she gets a plum draw. She may be outpaced, and there are some useful younger fillies that are on the up and so this looks a tough task. She is fit and well and always tries hard.

Racing washed out after race 3 on Tuesday. Ironically, the sun then shone for the rest of the day.

Two runners at Greyville on Wednesday, both in race 5.
JP2000 makes the trip from Jhb. He gets a good draw and jockey and has come down in the ratings, but first time on the poly and his form has been very patchy, so rather surprised to see him priced up as joint favourite. If he takes to the poly has a chance.
*Pascali also a fair draw and is competitive off his current rating. I would have preferred if he was going a mile and not 1400m, but he drew in the bush over the longer trip. He should be running on strongly, and I think that he has a fair ew chance.
This is a very open race. I think that the horse to watch is Turbo Boost, which won well at his second start, and despite getting a hefty rating of 86, could easily improve a lot, whereas the rest are all well exposed.

Good run by JP, close up 2nd. Pascali out sprinted and a bit disappointing. Clearly now needs further.

One runner at Scottsville on Sunday. Common Grounds in race 1. Had two fair juvenile runs, and after the scratchings of the two best performed horses, must have an ew chance. Beach Palace and Vihaan’s Bomb the other two raced runners that warrant respect. A host of first timers make this a very difficult race.

Common Grounds wandered all over the track, and was beaten into second by a first timer. Would have gone a lot closer if able to have been kept straight.

5 runners at Durbanville on Wednesday. Quite a lot of rain over the weekend and Monday morning, but wind and sunshine since then and the pen is reported Tuesday afternoon as 23, so all should be good to go.
Race 1* Klip in die Bos has his third run, and more improvement expected. The 1000m was too sharp for him. Quite a few first timers and a few that have had promising debuts, so I'm not expecting too much this time. Would like to see him running on and I would be thrilled if he could sneak a place. Maneki Neko has the worst draw, but ran well last time from wide and looks the one to beat. Guarding the Wall and The Grey King are the dangers of those that have raced.
Race 2 Double Distilled makes his debut. Nice colt, but a wide draw and will likely need further. Nordic Chief looks the one to beat.
race 5 *Princess Raya (bred in partnership) has her second run. She is still maturing, but should enjoy this trip. Badly in at the weights as she hasn't yet earned a rating and so has to carry 60k. which looks an impossible task.
Small place chance if she shows good improvement. Two A Penny is in the same boat, but showed enough at her second start to win this despite the weight.
Race 9 *Lady Renee got a hefty penalty for her maiden win, and this comes quite soon after that run, but she gets a nice draw and this is the right class of race. Obviously a tougher task here, but I'm hoping that she has made enough improvement to be competitive. Very open race and anything could win.
Race 10 *Treasure Hunt drops back in trip, which is a bit of an experiment. She is working well and gets a nice draw, so I'm hoping that she can be in the money. It looks a very competitive field, with some up and coming younger fillies that could be well ahead of their ratings. Mia's Harper and Nordic Quest could be the ones to watch for.

Bad day. Klip very poor, Princess still very immature, Double Distilled refused to gallop. Treasure Hunt injured in the float so had to scratch.
Lady Renee ran a good race but this was a debacle with some jockeys getting away with not complying with the safety rules of staying out wide.

Three runners at Fairview on Friday.
* Countessofthestars runs in race 2. Has a wide draw to overcome and still learning what it’s all about. Just looking for some improvement.
Beau Kala in race 3. Has blossomed on the poly and last time ran above her rating. She has a good winning chance.
*Elusive Jewel runs in race 5. Also a wide draw, and needs to bounce back from a poor effort last time.

Countess was upset while saddling and then overraced. Ignore run.
Beau Kala seemed to be there to set the pace for stablemate.
Good run in 3rd by Elusive Jewel, and a bit hampered at the top of the straight or would have gone even closer.

Two runners at Turffontein on Saturday.
Aussenkehr runs in race 7. Good run this track last time and should again be in the shakeup. Back in Business very progressive and looks the one to beat.
Nothingelsematters in race 9. Competitive race, and has an ew chance. Total Surrender looks the pick of the rest.

Lovely double on Saturday. Aussenkehr has been pushed up 6 points to 101 which seems a bit harsh as his main opponent was scratched. Nothingelsematters an overdue second win, deadheat so a few anxious moments waiting for the judge.

One runner at Durbanville on Tuesday. Exceeder runs in race 6. He put up a decent effort his first run back in CT, and should again be competitive. However, the F&M in the race get a generous sex allowance, so surprising that they are not shorter in the betting.

Normally the sex allowance is 4kg's for this distance, but for this race is only 3kg.

June was the wettest in the Cape in living memory. September seems to be going the same way. Good news is the dams are all full. The Breede River this winter breached the 100year high mark.
We have had two foals so far ( Pretty Betty and Fynbos), both first foals. A few more due soon. Elusive Fort is covering enthusiastically, and had 3 winners last week

Two runners at Fairview on Friday.
Quasimodo runs in the feature race 6. Very tough field, and out at the weights with the top ones. Of the locals, Grazinginthegrass has been in great form, and Bush Tracker has stepped up his last few. Warrior and Hoedspruit raid from CT, but their fitness is unknown. Big test for him, and would do well to earn a cheque.
Jean Paul runs in race 8. Didn’t stay the 1600m last time, and now tries 1400m. Very open race and hoping that he can challenge.

Super run by Quasimodo this class in 3rd. Jean Paul must go back to 1200m.

One runner at Durbanville on Saturday. Call To Unite ( bred in partnership), makes his debut in race 4. Gets a good draw, and hoping that he can live up to his breeding. Connery has good form but a wide draw, as does Igugulethu. Moonacres also has shown ability and gets a fair draw. Looks a strong maiden.
