Elusive Mata faded tamely- perhaps needed the run.
Beau Kala off form.

two runners at Fairview on Friday, and a welcome return to turf racing.

Elusive Hunter runs in race 2. Has shown nothing so far, but is bred to stay. Needs big improvement.
* Elusive Jewel runs in the 8th. Reverts to turf And the straight 1200m. Not sure what to expect. She loaded without too much fuss last time, so just hoping for some improvement

Some improvement from Elusive Hunter- but needs further.
Elusive Jewel again refused to load but was not given much leeway by the starter.

one runner at Scottsville on Sunday.
Horse Pharoah runs in race 1. Half brother to the very useful Helen’s Ideal, and interesting that he is being stepped out so early. No idea what to expect. Fine One ran a cracker on debut and will need a decent first timer to beat him.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all.

Horse Pharoah bit slow away and green. Outpaced , stayed on. Will come on from this run and watch over further.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday. *Princess Raya in race 4. Has disappointed so far, but now gets bottom weight in a maiden handicap. Starting from scratch with her. The 1200m will be too short, but hoping that she runs on and brings her homework to the track.
Pushing Limits just needs to run to a 79 to win this despite carrying top weight and looks hard to beat as she ran close to that rating on debut and should improve with the run under the belt. Fanny Kemble, Simply Beautiful and Jet Green the dangers.

Hokaai My Meisie in race 5. Things did not go her way in KZN, and she looked a bit in need of her last run. Steps up to the mile and if she sees out the trip should be a big runner at the weights. Cicadidae and Sun Spectacular look the two to beat, and Ticking Bomb has scope for improvement. Hokaai is 16/1 which is ew value, and worth including in exotics.

No improvement from Princess Raya.
Hokaai seemed to stay, but was slow away and poorly positioned thereafter- never a factor.

One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Nothingelsematters runs in race 5.This is above his usual class and he sneaks in on bottom weight. Poor draw, and if not too far back can earn as a good pace seems likely.

Company a bit too strong for Nothingelsematters, and the pace was not on which did not suit him.

Two runners at Fairview on Friday. Mhlabeni in race 4. Ran a fair sprint last time but he needs further and unlikely to trouble the judge.
Quasimodo in race 6. Came from a hopeless position last time from a very wide draw. Again not drawn well, but a smaller field. If he gets a decent position from the draw, will be running at them late. Has an ew chance in a very open race where few can be discounted.

Super run by Mhlabeni in 2nd. Quasimodo again too far back from wide draw and didn’t run on.

Exceeder ran Kenilworth Saturday, every chance but no show.

Two runners at Greyville on Sunday. Dawn Surprise in race 2. Promising debut less than 4 L back. Has a tough draw to contend with, but must be a runner with the natural improvement.
* Pascali runs in the 4th. Good win last time and the change to Greyville may be in his favour. Race has cut up to just 7 runners so his outside draw not a problem. He is a big runner if fit enough.
The Summerveld horses have missed work due to the rain the past few weeks, and his intended prep run was washed out.

Fair run by Pascali in 3rd. Slow pace did not really suit.
Dawn Surprise no match for the runaway winner but best of the rest in 2nd despite having to run wide from bad draw. Won’t be long in shedding her maiden.

One runner at Greyville on Monday. Common Grounds in race 4. Competitive line-up. He has the benefit of plum draw and must have a good winning chance, weather permitting.

Common Grounds a bit disappointing in 4th beaten 3L, but did it the hard way from the front in testing conditions and hampered in the straight which cost him a length or so.

One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. JP2000 runs in race 6. Poor last after two good poly efforts. A small but competitive field where Warhawk Bomber and Duke of Rock are still improving and Fulliautomatix showed good improvement when stepping up in trip last time. On best form JP can be there, but is unreliable.

No fireworks from JP but not disgraced.

4 runners at Fairview on Friday.
Race 1. I pinhooked Serendipitous at the Cape Winter sale and resold her at the RTR. A nice filly, she put up a decent gallop at the RTR.. Late foal and still needs to mature. I raced her dam in partnership with her breeders, Maine Chance. No form to go on. Will be watching with interest, and jockey booking could be a pointer.
Race 3. *Countess Of the Stars. 3 disappointing poor runs on the poly. Hoping that she will improve on the turf. Tough draw.
Race 6. * Lady Renee hated the kickback on the poly last time. The 1000m is a bit sharp, but expecting a much better effort on turf.
Race 7. Beau Kala has been disappointing her last couple and hopefully can bounce back. Can threaten on best form.
