Celtic Rumours outpaced.
Elusive Mata ran at Fairview on Friday- a bit disappointing in 5th although not beaten far. Came back a bit jarred up. The Fairview poly needs some maintenance as too many horses are coming back sore lately.
Two runners at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Silver Quality in race 2. 2nd run, and she had not been on the grass prior to her debut so that was just a grass gallop. Will improve, but still needs more experience and will be better over ground. I will be happy if she can improve a few lengths and run on. Quite a strong maiden, and quite a few with chances. Wave of Glory and Klein Karoo are generously priced and a nice swinger. Flying Finley, Catch a Penny and Beneath the Clouds quartet inclusions with these two.
Golden Ideal in race 7. Quite a tough task for a maiden filly, but she comes in with a nice galloping weight and has dropped to a competitive rating. Gets a strong rider, and she has been working well, so I'm hoping for a placed run and she could make the quartets pay. Open race and just about anything can win.

Golden Ideal a bit disappointing after showing good pace. Silver Quality happy with the improvement.
Hiersdieding another poor performance at Fairview. Will get one more chance in a maiden handicap.

One runner at Turffontein on Saturday. Almond Sea in race 7. She is well in at the weights, and I expect her to win. The going is the only concern as she is better on good ground. I'm not worried about the 1160m as she is more mature now. The danger is Sorceress Supreme which bounced back to form last time and had good juvenile form. Rodeo Drive is much better than her last run where she was well in at the weights but ran poorly.

Three runners at Kenilworth on Saturday
Silver Quality in race 4. Took her run well and we want to get another run under the belt so that she can get a rating and run in the handicap maidens. Expecting further improvement but this field too strong for her at this stage and too short.
Call to Unite in race 8. Drops back in trip, and I am surprised that he is favourite as he is best over 1800m and upwards, and gets a wide draw. Difficult race as there are quite a few that had good consistent form but flopped at their most recent run. I think that Future Turn is the one to beat reverting to his proper trip after failing to stay 2000m.
Golden Angel in race 9. She comes back from a short break, and is fit and well. She has cracked a plum draw and gets Craig Zackey back in the irons who won on her. Quite a few nice progressive fillies in this race, but off a rating of 80, I believe that we should win this, and the 10/1 is very generous. The obvious concern is that the yard has been struggling with a virus for quite some time and has not had winners for many weeks. We took her blood this morning and no concerns, so hopefully the end of the drought is in sight.

The yearlings travel to Kenilworth on Monday for the Summer sale on Thursday. Just 95 lots, of which we have 4, headed by the full brother to Almond Sea.
All are lovely yearlings, that we believe will come relatively early. Check out the articles in Sporting Post online, and the pictures are loaded on the catalogue site.

Silver Quality probably feeling the effects of too short a gap between runs.
Golden Angel nice run in 3rd- may have been slightly in need of it. The Kotzen yard have seemingly now got on top of the bug that has plagued them for 2 months, with all their runners back to form on Saturday.

Very impressive run by Almond Sea after taking a hefty bump at the start which set her back at least 5 lengths. Full marks to Larena for nursing her back into the race and a well timed finishing effort.
Unfortunately for the runner-up who is flattered by the close finish, she will be severely punished by the handicapper. This is a very hard race to rate, as 4 of the 7 runners ran poorly, Rodeo Drive in third probably did not run to her rating, and Almond Sea without the interference could have won by 4 or 5 lengths. I doubt if Poblano ran much above MR100, but will probably get smashed to 110.

One runner at Scottsville on Sunday. Common Grounds in race 3. He steps back up to 1400m, which is well within his range but gets a wide draw. His 3 runs since his rest have been a bit below par, so he has come down a few points, which should help. Has an ew chance in an open race if he gets some luck in the running from that draw.

Correction- the placed horses can only get 3 points rise for the Swallow Stakes, so Poblano off the hook.

Common grounds caught wide and never in it.

One runner at Turffontein on Thursday. Warning Sound in race 7. Good maiden win and should relish the step up to 1600m. A competitive race, but with natural improvement at just her 4 th start, should be a big runner.

Summer sale at Kenilworth 12h00 today. Only 88 horses after withdrawals. Generally, a good quality on offer, although as an early sale, quite a few that are still somewhat immature. It’s been reasonably busy with viewers, so hopefully a solid sale ahead. We have had 2 stinking hot days in the 30s in CT, but today much more reasonable at 27.

Warning Sound ran a shocker

One runner at Fairview on Friday
Nothingelsematters in the 8th. He went up 3 points for the win, and not much between him, Harold the Duke, Puerto Plata and Karoo Gold at the weights. These 4 should fill the quartet, and he has a good ew chance.

Another good run by Nothingelsematters- just beaten into 2nd.

three runners at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Celtic Rumours in race 2. tough task here and a small place chance only. Double grand slam, Fatal Flaw and Rascova should fight it out.
Golden Tatjana in race 6. She was badly off form and clearly not sound her past few runs. Returned from an op to remove joint chips when the stable was laid low by a virus. If she is fit and well and can reproduce her juvenile form then she is a runner, but need to see some evidence of that first. Very open race, and many with chances.
Walk With Me in race 10. two poor runs after 2 good wins. has ability, but needs to regain winter form. Wide draw in a very open race so no expectations.

Celtic Rumours not ridden out.
Golden Tatjana showed pace and tired late but kept going. She should now build back through the handicaps.
Walk With Me scratched.

3 Runners at Fairview on Friday.
De Vlugge in race 2. She steps up to 1400m which is her sister's best trip. Has had her issues, but if fit and well can win this from plum draw. Fire Alarm is the form horse, but has a tough draw to overcome. Global Scene has been knocking on the door.
Hiersdieding in race 3. He has been very disappointing, and hence is under sufferance even in a weak open maiden handicap. He gets a good draw, and the extra distance should suit. He needs to show significant improvement or a second career beckons.
Treasure Hunt in Race 4. Her last is best ignored as too soon after penultimate. Goes up in class, but gets a low weight. Unfortunately a wide draw so will have to push forward early. She is getting on in years and may be coming to the end of her racing career. On her best form is capable, but looks a tough task for her today. Catch Your Breath and Golden Pacific look the best of the locals, and the CT raider Highly Confidential has been running against stronger, and steps up in trip which should suit on breeding.

Good run 2nd by De Vlugge- the false start did not help her as she was a bit uptight after that and also green.
Treasure Hunt could not get to the front from her wide draw, so was dropped out and came with a strong late run to get up for 3rd.
Hiersdieding will be retired.

One runner at fairview on Tuesday. Elusive Mata in race 5. Very competitive race, where she is up against some improving sorts. Gets a fair draw, and I think that she can run into the money.

Elusive Mata was running on well but stopped late and came back jarred up.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Double Dash in race 5. She is overdue her maiden win, but so are English Mistress and Tuscan Romance. Tough draw, but over the 1800m is not too serious. Gets a proper jockey for a change, and that should make all the difference. She is the one to beat. Stable companion Money Extractor and Strawberry Thief are unexposed and could also be in the mix.
Golden Ideal in race 8. She is better than her last effort and could cause an upset.
