Its been a relatively quiet couple of weeks on the racing front.
Golden Ideal a bit unlucky. Golden Tatjana has been sold to stud. Celtic Rumours a somewhat better effort but still below best.
Nothingelsematters again a flying finish on Friday 21st March into second. Treasure Hunt a good effort from a wide draw to hold on for 4th.
Golden Angel ran Sat 22nd, and we expected her to win, but again run out of it late, 4th beaten 2L I think time to go further with her.

One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Captain Selvie in race 2. There have been a couple of key scratchings which makes her job easier.
The mare has been a great producer, and I'm hoping that this one can emulate her sisters, Almond Sea, Sarah and Celtic Rumours.
Not easy to debut on the turn, but she gets the draw. Wings of Ice fair debut and has the benefit of a run under the belt.
Miss Novax has been priced up second favourite.

The Cape Sales are now behind us, and we did ok in what has become a two-tier market, with the top couple of stallions' progeny making big money, but bargains to be had for buyers outside of those.
We are not represented at NYS as with relatively small numbers, I chose to enter everything on the two local Cape sales.
It's a nice catalogue, although numbers impacted by the reduced mare population and the Cape March sale.
It remains to be seen if the bouyant market can continue despite the insane Trump tariff war and the very regretable jockey strike action, which has cost Cape owners 3 race meetings.

Fair debut by Capt Selvie- the going probably did not suit, but she showed decent pace and tired late.

One runner at fairview on Friday. Nothingelsematters in race 8. He should have a good winning chance in this lineup, but will need to be alert not to let the 3yo get away with the tailwind.

Good win by Nothingelsematters.

One runner at Scottsville on Sunday.
Dawn Surprise in race 9. She is capable of winning if at her best but has been inconsistent lately. Very open race as are most races on what looks a very difficult card for punters.

Dawn Surprise fair run, just faded out the money 5th beaten 3L.
Three runners at Kenilworth on Monday.
Call to Unite (bred in partnership) in race 8. Has a decent ew chance this trip. La Pulga is better than his current official 93 rating- he ran 103 last time against 117 rated All Out For Six getting 5kg and beaten 2L, so is very well in at the weights and clearly the horse to beat. There's not a lot between Rule of Thumb and Call To Unite and they should fill the trifecta.
Walk With Me in race 9. He faded tamely last time after being chased up from a wide draw at Durbanville. Back down the straight he should be competitive in a wide open race. Gets the services of Andrew Fortune who has silenced the critics with some very good rides since his comeback and he is well worth the small 0.5kg overweight.
Golden Tatjana in race 10. Again a very open race where just about anything can win. She was supposedly sold to stud on the April online sale, but takes her place here. Has not regained her earlier form since having surgery, but is now off a very competitive handicap mark, and with the sting out the ground could cause an upset if sound.

Call to Unite soft lead, but faded out- something amiss.
Walk With Me drawn wrong side and never got into the race
Golden Tatjana showed good pace, but faded late. Not disgraced in 5th beaten 4 L, but still running way below her juvenile form.

Two runners at Vaal on Tuesday.
Kaalvoet in race 2. Makes his debut and not fancied in the betting. The 2 yo's are 5kg out at the weights, so somewhat surprising to see Woensdag Koerant favourite. Alesian Beau and Inspector James look the right two unless he is above average as he will need to run to an 88 to justify the support.
Captain Selvie in race 3. Fair debut and can improve on that. Again the older fillies have a 5kg pull at the weights, and Desert Cloud looks the one to beat. Captain Selvie and Quiet Winter could be good enough to give her cheek.

Good wins by Kaalvoet and Captain Selvie beating older horses. Both should improve with experience.

Four runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday- all in very open races and a tough day for punters. The straight course had a strong draw bias on Monday in favour of the inside draws.
Double Dash and *Golden Angel in race 7. Neither get good draws, so will need a bit of luck in running,
Double Dash is in good form, but this may be on the sharp side for her. Will be running on strongly.
Golden Angel has not lived up to our expectations since her maiden win, but should enjoy the mile and is down to a 74- I believe she is better than that.
I have fancied her her last couple of starts only to be disappointed, but hopefully she can bounce back here. Its worth noting that she gets 2.5kg from Double Dash, yet beat her comfortably at level weights last year.
*Silver Quality in race 8. She steps up to the mile and is bred to go a trip so I'm hoping that she improves on her moderate sprint form. Not a strong field and she gets a nice draw and bottom weight, so if she handles the trip she could spring a surprise here.
*Golden Ideal in race 10. Has not been too far off them in recent starts and also comes in with a nice draw and bottom weight. Hopefully she will be inspired by her younger brother's performance yesterday.

Good win by Golden Ideal- mare now 5 winners from 6 runners.
Silver Quality was well placed, but didn't go on with it.
Golden Angel fair run in 4th beaten 1.5 L, but still disappointed that she did not win.
Double Dash went hard up front and faded out.

One runner at Fairview on Friday. Mhlabeni in race 2. His last two runs have been good, and he has coped with this trip previously. A bit out at the weights with the top 3, but is gutsy and could sneak a place.

Another very good run by Mhlabeni in strong company, hung on for 3rd.

Two runners at Fairview on Tuesday.
Stroopsoet and Treasure Hunt both run in race 5. Open race. Treasure Hunt gets an ok draw of 6 and this is her favourite distance. Had to work hard last few runs from wide draws and should have an easier passage today. Getting on in years but has dropped to a 75 and should be competitive again.
Stroopsoet has relocated from Gauteng, and gets a nice 2 draw and the 1400m should be no problem. If she takes to the poly and behaves herself, she is capable of a winning local debut.

Stroopsoet faded out badly- perhaps something amiss.
Very gutsy run by Treasure Hunt in 2nd beaten just half a length.

Two runners at Turffontein on Saturday.
Kaalvoet in race 2. He  ran a super race in 3rd just pipped for 2nd, although the winner different class and she will be a big runner in the gr1 at Scottsville.

Almond Sea in race 4.. She was unlucky last time, and at the weights is the one to beat. Hoping she can win this one.
Mia Moo, Time fo Orchids and Gimme a Shot look the main dangers.

Disappointing by Almond Sea, but she reportedly came back lame so clearly not her best.

One runner at Turffontein on Sunday.
On An Impulse, race 2. Makes his debut. Only 2 raced runners and so no form to go on. He is a very nice colt, but bred for further. Looking forward to seeing how he goes.

On an Impulse clearly needed the outing and further but showed a nice action. watch over ground.
Walk With me ran on Monday at Kenilworth. Again a horrible draw and ran on from last. when he cracks a draw then worth following.
Two runners at Kenilworth on Sunday.
Golden Tatjana and *Golden Ideal both in race 10. Both benefit from the 2kg sex allowance.
Golden Tatjana is now off a rating where she should pick up a race if sound enough.
Golden Ideal up in class after her gutsy win last time, but is course and distance suited.
The D stakes 100m may have been a better option as she beat most of those last time.
However she carries a paper weight and could surprise.
