Indigo Fields had every chance but seemed still a bit in need of this. Impressive win by the first timer.
E Tango a game run again, and held on for 4th. Has been dropped a couple of pounds which will help next time.
JP 2000- ignore run- reared at start and lost about 10L.

Friday at Fairview three runners. Race 3 *Fort Dawn has been struggling in Durban and my partners have thrown in the towel. Will give him a couple of runs in PE and then decide on his future. Same race * Cape Point having a go in PE. Has been running against stronger in CT, and I think has an ew chance if not switched to poly.
* Encryption runs in race 6. Very game and always in with an ew chance, but worst draw to overcome so needs luck.
Saturday Durbanville *Gentleman runs in race 1. Ignore last effort as jock stopped riding. Has an ew chance if repeating penultimate.
Major Attraction runs in Diana Stakes. Is very progressive and best this trip but returns from a break. Captain’s Ransom should be a penalty kick, but if MA is fit could sneak a place.
* Fynbos runs in race 8. Pulled muscles last run and will need this run as was off work for a while. *Helen’s Blush does not act in the wet so we have given her time off during winter. May need it a bit, but she is well and expecting a decent effort in an open race.

Super win by Encryption under a very good ride by Luyolo, despite the shift to poly. Cape Point was not assisted by the change of surface, but he will have learned from that and will no doubt handle the poly better next time. Should not be long before he wins in PE.
Fort Dawn came back with pulled muscle so run can be ignored.
Gentleman is a cause of frustration- wanted to hang and made it very difficult for the jockey.
Helen’s Blush was blowing quite heavily afterwards and will come on from this. Pleasing 4th place. Fynbos ran as expected and will also come on a ton from this.
Fabulous effort by Major Attraction to run 2nd in the Diana. No disgrace to be beaten by the best filly in the country getting just 3 kg. Had some good fillies behind her, although most did need further.

Super Tanaye runs in the 2nd at Vaal on Monday. Tough task.
Understated runs in the 8th, and can follow up on his maiden win.
* Treasure Hunt runs on Tuesday at Durbanville in the 4th. Better this trip, but takes on a strong field including a number of progressive 3yos.

No show the last three runners. Treasure Hunt was slow away, and much too far out her ground, and although she ran on strongly, had no chance in a strung out field.
Mhlabeni runs in the 8th at Fairview on Friday. Romped home in his maiden, and hopefully can follow up.
Indigo Fields runs on Sunday at Greyville in race 1. They have brought her back to 1200m, and running her soon after the last. Marcus jumps ship to Three Hearts which looks the one to beat.

Elusive Fort is firing on all cylinders, with a number of winners recently, and in particular, a very impressive performance by Big Burn. She must surely have an outstanding chance of landing a gr1 this season. Her full brother, Catch Twentytwo was runner up in a number of top races last year, and has now been sent to race overseas. Best wishes to the connections, as the travel restrictions make it an arduous journey.
EF is currently sitting 4th on the general sires list for the current season.
Covering is going well and nearly all mares covered so far reported in foal after first cover.

Its been a quiet week for us on the racing side, but some lovely foals born on the farm. The entries for the 2022 sales have to be in this month, so have been scoring our yearlings this week to decide where they should go.

This weekend we have * Gentleman running in the first race on Saturday at Durbanville. A small field although some useful performers so a tough task for him. Gets a good draw, but he must behave better in the race if he is to show.
Veni Vidi Vicci runs in the 7th. He has steady form and an ew chance, but the smart 3yo Senso Unico looks hard to beat.
On Sunday we have * Miss Jacqueline running at Greyville in the 3rd. Quite a competitive maiden, but she is fit and well, a decent draw and a top jockey, and she should enjoy this trip. Good ew chance.

Both Miss Jacqueline and Gentleman improved runs, but not in the money. VVV disappointing.

Monday 18th Montfort runs in the 6th race at Greyville. Her form is consistent on the poly. Up in class, but a low weight, good draw and top jockey so could make her presence felt.
On Tuesday the moderate Super Tanaye runs in the 1st at Vaal. Although this is a workriders race, a few decent 3yos should fight it out, and so not expecting much from her.
Three runners on Wednesday 20th- racing returns to Kenilworth. The track should be perfect after a bit of rain the past few days.
*Helen's Legend runs in the 1st. She hated the sloppy winter going her first two starts, and although she is going to need further, we are expecting a much improved run in a big field. There are some well bred first timers (including a half sister to Clouds Unfold) and one can expect a few decent sorts among them.
*Grey Princess runs in the 7th in a strong handicap. She is fit and well and a low weight but a tough task for her against improving younger fillies.
Exceeder runs in the 8th. Another that did not act in the heavy. Improved run last time, and with a top jockey must have an ew shout.

A good week so far. Close up 2nd by Montfort; a gutsy 3rd by Grey Princess and a fluent win by Exceeder.

A couple of runners at Fairview on Friday.
*Jean Paul runs in the 2nd. He has been most frustrating since his good second run. He was gelded after his last run, and hopefully that will help keep his mind on the job. His work has been good, and if he is effective on the poly, then he must have a shout.
*Cape Point runs in the 6th- he is a maiden taking on winners, but handled the last minute switch to the poly admirably last time, and although this is a very open race, I would not be surprised if he showed improvement with that experience on the surface under his belt. Gets a decent draw, and I think that he will be competitive.
Major Winter runs in the 5th at Turffontein on Saturday. He has been disappointing since his bad luck in his first post maiden run when dislodging the jockey. Hopefully with the 4kg claim he will show some improvement.
Secretary of State makes her debut in race 2 at Kenilworth on Saturday. She is bred for further and this is quite a strong field so it will be interesting to see how she does.
*Treasure Hunt runs in race 8. Her last run can be ignored as she was too far out of her ground. A very competitive race, and she will do well to run into the money.
*Drama Queen runs in the 3rd race at Greyville on Sunday. Has had a break to get vaccinations and to get over a few niggles, and tries the poly. This will be too sharp for her, but hopefully will handle the surface and come on from this run.

Disappointing runs by the two in PE. Major Winter scratched.
Very promising debut by Secretary of State. Will come on a ton from this and will win when put over further.
Treasure Hunt now needs to go a mile.
Surprisingly good run by Drama Queen first time on the poly and trip too short. We now have more options for her and should pick up a race soon.

*Elusive Tango runs in the 5th race on Tuesday at Kenilworth- a very open race and if he can get a soft lead he can earn.
Super Tanaye runs in the 1st on Thursday at Vaal. I think she should prefer this trip, but her form is not inspiring.
Secret Depths runs in the 5th at Fairview on Friday. Not sure if she will see out this trip, and rain forecast so possible it’s switched to the poly.
*Encryption runs in the 8th. Horrible draw anD not well in at the weights, but there aren’t too many suitable races for her.

Good seconds by Elusive Tango and Encryption. Poor run Super Tanaye. Secret Depths didn’t see out the trip.

Three runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
* Fynbos and * Helen’s Blush run in race 6. Both needed their last runs, and will go better here. Fynbos will probably still need it somewhat, but expecting Helen’s Blush to go close.
*Grey Princess runs in the 7th, and if repeating her last could earn again. The rain we had on Monday will help her chances.
*Mistress of Means runs in the 5th on Friday at Fairview. Good draw and top jockey so should have a decent shout.
Mhlabeni runs in the 8th.
On Saturday, * Gentleman runs in the first at Kenilworth. Infinite Peace should win, but ours should be in the money.
Sound of Warning runs in the 5th at Turffontein . If not needing it, she should be competitive.
Montfort runs in the 6th at Greyville- tries the turf again.

Top horses at both Turffontein and Kenilworth this weekend. Elusive Fort’s Kommetdieding apparently put up an excellent gallop at Kenilworth recently. His main opposition in the Cape Mile also coming back from breaks.

Helen’s Blush sadly knocked a tendon during the race and was not persevered with. Fynbos will come on from this and will be a factor next time.
Grey Princess run out of the places late- needs some relief from the handicapper.
Mistress of Means good run - stayed on for third. Runs ok on poly but definitely happier on turf.
Mhlabeni fair 4th over a distance short of his best.
Gentleman good 2nd behind a fair sort.
Sound of Warning very good run after her break. She is showing remarkable speed for a filly with her pedigree- she is bred to go a mile and further.
Montfort fair run on the turf but looks better on poly.

We have *Just for Laughs in the 5th at Greyville on Monday. She was given a nice break after her good run in the Thekweni. She will probably need this run, wide draw and the trip is too sharp. Will need to tuck in from that draw and hope they go quick enough that she can settle with cover, and then run on.
