Another good win by Captain Selvie. Looks like she is still on the up and could be looking at feature races soon.

One runner at Greyville on Saturday.
De Vlugge has been in super form, but a tougher task at the weights today. Hopefully she can step up in an open race. Perilla and Sovereign Grant have consistent form, while Limitless Sky takes a huge drop in class after contesting features, and Bright and Brazen makes the trek from Gauteng.

We had 2 runners at Fairview the past week- Disruptive missed the break but ran on. Dead Poets Society improved run into 3rd over a trip that I would think is too short.

One runner at Turffontein on Sunday. Captain Selvie in race 7. She keeps improving and so must again have an ew shout, although getting tougher as she goes up the ratings.
Sosoru getting 3 kg looks the main one she has to beat, but a few others with chances in a decent field.

Very good run by Capt Selvie close up 3rd after making the running.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Tuesday.
Sway in Style in race 1. Fair debut considering that Botha races his babies without prior grass gallops. Will probably need at least one more run before she is ready to win, but could sneak a place if not too green on the turn. Should enjoy the step up in trip. The going is soft so that could impact results. Juliet of Verona looks the one to beat but all of Oh Isabella, Peace Garland and Golden Shimmer have decent form too.

Warrior of Destiny in Race 2. He ran a much improved race last time, and only 1.5L behind It’s Good It’s Nice which is the likely favourite. Marshall has a strong hand with that one and Uncle Sam which went close on debut. African Wild Dog must also be respected. Strong competition but Warrior should be in the first 4 and has a small winning chance.

Stay in Style caught 3 wide and then took a bump. Better than this.

Warrior very good run beaten half a length. Can’t believe there wasn’t a race review. Watch the head on- African Wild Dog hangs into him the last 200m, and Zackey keeps his stick in the right hand instead of switching to keep him straight. Our stipes are blind. Warrior runs first or second but for the interference, instead a dirty 4th.

My Wednesday post was written but I must have neglected to press the submit button.
I was hoping for at least 1 winner and I fancied all three runners. Floral Kingdom was slow into stride, and although running on strongly could only manage third place behind the shock older  winner carrying no weight and her 2yo rival in 2nd place.
Dawn Surprise ran another honest race in 2nd.
Golden Angel looked a winner but was nabbed on the line for a close up 2nd.

Two runners at Fairview on Friday.
Both Dead Poets Society and Luca Da Wheels are in race 4, a weak Open Maiden.
DPS ran on very strongly on Friday over 1000m only 2.5L off the winner, so may be ready to live up to his breeding. This trip should be more to his liking.
Luca  has been a slow maturer, but has handled the poly ok and could also show some cheek with a very low weight.

Some improvement from both the Fairview runners but more needed.
One runner at Kenilworth on Tuesday. There is rain forecast for this afternoon but ok for now.
Double Dash in race 7. Fair run last time and Murray rides again which will help as she can be difficult.
Open race, and needs to improve a couple of lengths but has a squeak.

DD rained out
One runner at Fairview on Wednesday.
Lyrics and Songs race 4. Has been very disappointing. Gets a low weight and a decent draw so hopefully can get some cover as she has been over racing and fading out.

Lyrics and Songs improved to run 4th beaten a couple of lengths.
Luca Da Wheels also a bit of improvement.
Other runners this past week- Dead Poets Society ran twice and although well beaten ran into the money.
Flower Burst very green and missed the break. Just an educational run.

One runner at the Vaal on Thursday. Warning Sound in race 6. Can follow up in an open race.

Elusive Fort had another 4 winners in June, and has some nice 2 and 3 year runners coming through which augurs well for the season ahead. Remarkably, is no. 20 0n the 3 yo sires list with only 23 runners.
