......dont believe that it is available on DSTV.....a pity though as if one wants to lure okes with at least an inkling of an income that would be the place.....a rather disjointed approach imvho......

.......OK I get it....but many many others here will not.....not hard core racing but a homely magazine show for now... with only a hint of horse racing which can be slowly built upon......basically it was more about food and baking a cake.. ...but this is, at this time slot a way to get the fairer sex involved and enthused.....James Goodman is a good soft touch to help guide shape and build an audience.....that hopefully will want to go racing.....

Can't watch as don't have access to channel but I'd not turn down watching the Good teach us how to bake a cake while tipping for the next day.

I am older, but..
I think you can stream it from here for FREE --

www.telkomone.tv/en/

just sign up, and then about the 3rd row there is "free TV" where you can watch SABC sport and SABC 1 and 2 etc

......The Good was only a guest and not the interviewer and he did not bake the cake....the other guest, a chef did the baking and got the majority of the 15-20 min show.....ads made up 10min +.....a start and very little racing discussed other than James's intro and life history and 1st Aug being horses birthday thus a cake bake....this show looks to grow a slow steady audience and subliminally plant the racing angle into potential viewers.....the time slot or though rather odd does not have much rival other than FTA eTV channel movies and reruns of Masterchef Ozz.... so when the household scans TV channels to view while preparing food or whateva people do at 5PM they may be drawn into this programme as not much else to watch at this time.....

.....this type of approach would be totally lost on the DSTV platform as there are too many options for viewers to view so I now understand where and who the potential target audience could be.....;)

From that insert I don't get who this content for, just looks like a chat show without any focus.

They could have interviewed a host of interesting people or got the ball rolling with following 3 yearlings that are preparing to race in the next 5 months...... the opportunities are endless

.....Episode 3 more on the mark with Nico K and the Good and much more racing and no cake baking.....but it is at the other end of episode 2 ....and gone straight to the big global races....and bit all over the shop.....but hey... one has got to try make lemonade out of this lemon.....:S

.....fortunately episode tailed off of a smaller but good profile soccer match....under 19 SA vs other African side(sorry was not paying attention) but if there was male viewership there and Channel was still on....may have grabbed a few views.....maybe a few shebeens had the channel on for the soccer too....

Hi Saint T

Thank you for the note. One hopes we can keep this constructive. My invitation to ABC bloggers should not be construed as a product strategy shortcoming nor appeal for survival, but rather to meet the strategic intent for Racing Today to be inclusive. Racing is bigger than all of us and content is naturally subjective – what one person likes another may dislike. A daily racing show provides opportunity to canvass and meet the needs of many.

The future of the show must be cognisant of viewer ratings and consumer feedback. Viewership reach and positive audience engagement are key measures for sports marketeers that may wish to associate their brands with racing - no broadcast product can be numb to this, irrespective of its origin or initial intent.

Racing Today intends to cover all facets of racing and every stakeholder involved therein. For racing to thrive, not just survive, I believe all operators need to be successful. Contributors to the sport should rightly be acknowledged without exception or exclusion.

Many ABC bloggers have spent decades in the sport and accordingly may well have valued suggestions, feedback and/or requests for certain topics to be featured. Opinions will differ no doubt, which in turn will hopefully result in constructive debate, with racing being the benefactor.

Should you wish, I am available to engage direct (e: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; c: 078 4608044) to address any misconceptions or concerns you have. If we all contribute, the sport can only be richer for it.

Many thanks
