Tero, what's your opinion on Maiden Special Weights?

Rock on Tommy(R1) is the best weighted runner, imo.

I am not a fundi in handicapping. The Maiden Special Weights has certain conditions in regards to weight.

From what I gather, horses Aussenkehr and Gimmie's Laddie have the joint highest rating of 81. Over 1200m, this time of the year 3yo's should get 5kgs allowance. That will make them a 71. Rock On Tommy is rated 58. The difference is 13 which is 6.5kgs which is exactly what it is receiving therefore it is receiving what it should be getting. Rock On Tommy is 4yo and is lightly raced. 3yos have more room for improvement at this stage of the season.

Note Longshanks and Tuscan Gold are receiving what weight it should have got in a handicap with the top two in the betting. They are 3yos and if you looking for outsiders from the raced horses then they should be included.

Note, horses with no ratings and first timers are carrying 59.5kgs.

Naresh, I just think the top two in the betting though capable of improvement have run to the same 71 or so in the past four runs. On the other hand RoT looks to have bee underrated when looking at its first run. I agree with you on Tuscan Gold, back to the 1200m with Matsunyane up has to be included in everything.

IMO Maiden Handicap and Maiden Special Weight try to avoid backing the best form or the highest merit rate horses. Its a lottery! These races are open to manipulation. These type of races are a lottery. Today at Kenilworth Race 1 Tuscan Gold 25/1 romps home. IMO this game is crooked. Most punters once again saw their ass in the Bipot both first and second favourites ran out of the first two positions.

Punters should avoid punting in these type of races because you will tend to get fcuk!

The biggest single disgrace is the maiden handicap. Giving an inferior horse a win behind its name and pedigree. Every podcast I do I castigate these who put on races such as maiden handicaps. There are many other anomolies in the programme including classified stakes. But no one listens or thinks about the harm these races cause.

Kenilworth Race 4... Maiden Special Weight/Handicap

Another 20/1 Cosmic Event romps home.

What a nightmare for punters to back a winner in these Maiden Special Weight/Handicap.

I see most of my horse punter buddies are moving over to these mini casino's. They tell me that they at least go home with something in their pockets.

The winner had the second highest rating in the field. From the family of Yard Arm, Abashiri etc. Which bookmaker was offering 12s?
