Karate Kid declared a runner, yet Main Defender a non-runner. Incidents in the stalls are fairly similar. Did the stipes have a vested interest in Main Defender?

Whilst I'm happy about main defender being declared a non runner because I had a bet, I can't understand why he was declared a non runner?
