Summer Cup Countdown

Based on the run today King Pelles should be joint favorite for the Summer cup.

Running on over 1200m in a prep run 3 weeks ago, then running second over 1600m today, but lightening up at the end and full of steam. Very impressive.

In 3 weeks, with all the rains making Turfontein 2000m more like a 2400m race with soft to yielding going, this horse which is definitely better over distance is going to be tough to beat. Yes he has Atticus Finch and the Equator to compete with, but it's going to be at least a win place bet, at 8-1, probably really value.

Atticus Finch will carry 60kgs, King Pelles will carry 57.5kgs and Equator will carry 55kgs, theoretically 1kg= 2 lengths, cant see Atticus Finch beat the Equator by 10 lengths. Still think King Pelles is the real lurker here...the jockey never moved on him and never used the whip in the last start, he looks very well prept for this race.

Only the draws can beat the Equator and King Pelles in my opinion.

Lets see who handles the mud better. The rain is expected in 7 of the next 12 days. It rained from Friday to Monday as it stands and still continue for the next 2 days at least. Theres even rain expected on the 29th.

Even worst the main is normally the 7th or 8th on the card. Hence the turf will be cut up even more.

Is The Equator running or has it been scratched.
