Sunday’s nine-race Turffontein Standside meeting serves as a crucial sorting ground for the R6-million Betway Summer Cup later this month and the Grade 3 Betway Victory Moon Stakes over 1800m takes centre stage as the last serious opportunity for fringe contenders to stake their claims. No fewer than nine of the 12 runners in the Victory Moon hold Summer Cup entries and with the big race’s final field due to be announced on 19 November, a bold showing on Sunday could make all the difference. Tony Peter is particularly well represented and saddles The Ultimate King, Son Of Raj and Money Heist. Top-weight Son Of Raj brings proven class, but concedes plenty of weight in a competitive field, while joint best-weighted Money Heist looks set for another honest effort. The most progressive of the trio is The Ultimate King, a four-year-old Vercingetorix gelding who has thrived since returning from a break and continues to show the right attitude in his races. Now at a career-high merit rating of 103, he will need to raise his game, but victory would almost certainly book The Ultimate King a Summer Cup berth. Other Victory Moon runners with designs on a Summer Cup slot are Legend Of Arthur and Don’t Cry For Me from the Sean Tarry stable, Wild Intent (Lucky Houdalakis), Solar Sail (Mark Khan), Shoot The Rapids (Frank Robinson), Thunee Playa (Mano Pandaram) and Navajo Nation (Weiho / Warrick Marwing). The undercard for the Victory Moon Stakes includes the Betway National Colour Stakes (Race 5) over 1000m and the Betway Summer Pudding Handicap (Race 6) over 1600m, both Listed events. The latter is particularly poignant after the recent passing of the Triple Tiara heroine. The Betway Victory Moon Stakes is carded as race 7 on Sunday’s programme and the field will face the starter at 15:35. You can Bet On Us with TAB at

Lets hope they get thru all 9 races
Race 7 Victory Moon average looking field. I like Navajo Nation. Pity about jockey carrying 1kg over
Race 4 top field. 1/3 BSC is a bit short at the weight on a sticky track. Chyvana gets 9.5 kg the danger
Race 5 Almond sea over 1000 meters top draw. Alpine Yet gets 9 Kgs. Instaworthy from PE interesting traveller
Race 9 Impact Investor from Dark Silver
Race 8 very competative field. Hoping Teagn Champ smooshes them
Race 6 The Glistian runners stand out for me. But lots can win
Races 1 - 3 not for me!!! Dianne Stenger some nice quality bred runners

Hammer Blow...each way
Holding form well. In the money last two races...should have a winning chance
