no debate he should be captain and every great ex player who has been questioned agrees he should be made captain and let ab focus on his batting and get him back into the slips ..faf is a great leader and he wants the job as well

This team is on the up again and if only the dim wit politicians can now stay out of it, this team can, and will get to the top again.

That is why our sports are in such a sorry state. We settle for second best over and over, again and again. He has the attention span of a box of Weet-Bix, but has the skills as a player when on song/concentrating (not often). I hope I will be proven wrong but he is still a doos in my eyes and shouldn't be captain.

neigh your boy ab takes back the captaincy once he is fit so you can relax..if beating the ozzies 5 zip and then winning the test series down under without a once in a lifetime bowler like steyn and de villiers batting doesnt show what a great leader du plessis is then nothing will

Everyone thought graeme smith was a doos and quite frankly i couldnt care if he was but his record as captain and opening batter spoke for itself and as is the norm with this country he gets more respect and applause in other countries than he does here ..being the most popular and likeable chap doent necessarily make you the best leader..its not a popularity contest

P, I agree Graeme Smith to me was a brilliant captain, remember with Faf we are talking about captaincy here not as a player. I dont think Faf has the personality or brains to sustain this showing over a period of time. His reaction to this ball-tampering was so childish (Faf like) and it came back to bite us in the last test.

One last thing, the Aussies were at an all time low, I dont know how much better we were than normal....??

OUR TOP 6 HAS PLENTY PROBLEMS MAINLY BEING NO CONSISTENCY AS YOU CANT HAVE YOUR NUMBER 7 BAILING YOU OUT ALL THE TIME AND HIM DE KOCK BEING THE HIGHEST RUN MAKER ..THE OPENERS NEVER GAVE US A DECENT START AND SADLY AMLA WASNT AT HIS BEST BUT HE WILL BE BACK ..DUMINY IS IN AND OUT AND HAS HAD HIS CHANCES AND WILL MAKE WAY FOR AB AND BAVUMA NEEDS TO BE GIVEN TIME ..A PLACE FOR RILEY ROUSOW NEEDS TO BE FOUND AND MAYBE DE KOCK NEEDS TO OPEN ..BOWLERS ARE TOP CLASS

My 2 cents worth on the whole situation. Faf is our best captain. I love AB, but he is not a captain imo. The best players are leaders yes, but not always decision makers. Not running AB down, but I often have seen him going into his "shell" when we have been under the kosh. To me is seems like Faf has the team executing their individual roles better than they have been recently, and the results are there in black and white. In saying that, I still believe he a great captain, but the best we have imo. If one looks at all nations atm, there is no stand out test captains since MacCullum has retired. He in my eyes was the last brilliant captain. There is no MacCullums, Smith's, Waugh's etc on the int stage. And I think the only one who is starting to put his hand up, but is still learning the job with the most prospect of falling into the above mentioned class is Kohli..

SA lost to England because Philander and Steyn were both injured. They got hammered in India because they cant play top class spin (if those wickets were a government then the president would have been impeached and the rest fired as those wickets were doctored to suit the Indian spin bowlers) SA now host Sri Lanka and will blow them away within 4 days in all three tests as the Sri Lankans are very weak against quick bowling. They then go to NZ, trying to convince myself to go on that tour, should be a close series as the Kiwis now have a top class side. Then the big series after the Champions Cup v England. That should be a monster of a series and so long as we have a fit squad we can do it as Anderson and Broad are getting on (in bowling terms). So plenty to look forward too and there is nothing better in sport in supporting your team and you know that they are giving it their all. Proteas WILL be number 1 again by the end of next year.

The best 20/20 comp starts on the 20th December. The Big Bash never lets me down. Looking for the Brisbane Roar to do something this season with McCullum in their line up
