not to sure on how the buyers card works at the tba - but many trainers don't have contracts with owners - you just get your bill and pay or not

I think you get 21 days to pay post sale..Im not sure I bought at this nys but havnt got a bill yet..the best is to pay 6 months upfront training fees for horses racing and 1 year upfront for babies going into training..then you dont have any problems

and leave some of your winning stakes behind with the trainer to cover a couple of months training if your horse does win or place - takes the pressure off and you'll have more fun

trainers should insist on the owner supplying him with bank details and have a monthly direst debit order put into motion. Its does not seem fair that the trainer does all the work and the owner takes the money and the glory when the horse arrives..by saying that its obvious that 80 per cent of owners pay their fees when due.

guys at the end of the day many owners become overcommitted to to many horses and when the crunch comes the training fees are the last to be paid..the jockey club do absolutely nothing to help recover these outstanding amounts..it truly is the sport for kings and you know what

mr hawaii howzit boet!..since i met you i been watching yr tips..they excellent bud!! ja i think that u got a point but its such a big story to fill all those forms in to transfer all stakes to the trainer I dont think its worth it to change that every few months if I understand you right..I was just unlucky (if you can call it that) that I was with the best trainer in SA for owners who ran horses regularly and made money for them and then tragically passed away..the worst day of my racing life as he became a great friend as well...but with him before you knew it you were R100/s of thousands UP!!

pirates i agree - we do need new owners but just allowing anyone to get colours is crazy - it's so risky in today's economic climate and forces trainers to do things they would not normally do - in the end the one that really suffers is the poor horse - i have decided to race my present horses and not add to them unless an absolute bargin comes about to ensure that i never put pressure on them to earn to keep my ownership going
