I definitely stand to be corrected here, but I have a strong suspicion they do exactly this in France. With the non-paying mindset we seem to have in this country, though, the sport might just about collapse altogether if we implemented the same system!

fuck this is rich, mug punters that have fuckall interest in owning horses making statements like owners should pay six months up front and supply bank statements. who do you fools think you are, wake up a trainer runs a business. if he cant control cash flows its his crap not yours. do you clowns know how much it costs to keep a horse? stick to doing your tom and leave the elite alone
as for johnny come lately donna, if you have facts post them along with your identity dont come with allegations

i'm not a mug punter and i have colours and i don't think magic lips nor oscar are either - i and many other PAYING owners have to carry the load for other owners who don't pay - what gives any OWNER the right not to pay his keep so that my horse's wellbeing is in jeopardy - If being ELITE means having no decency or class then i'm glad i'm not ELITE - if you don't pay don't buy - Hollywood are one of the most respected ownership syndicates in the business and by you refering to them as "MUG punters" really shows your class and ignorance

What kak! Trainers biggest prostitute liars on god's earth. Trainers most commonly believe IF they tell the truth then they lose the customer. And that sums up the majority of their business ethics. This protectionist crap is either coming from a trainer's wife or someone who has never paid for the bullshit.

mr hawaii firstly i cannot take balding potbellied ponytailed middleaged losers seriously so up yours as a start. my reference to people calling the shots without owning a horse should refer so you are excused even though its debatable whether what you own should be termed a racehorse, horse appropriate though

I suggest the next time you take a bet just tell the tote operator you'll come back and pay her when the bet arrives - or tell the bar man at your local that you'll pay him for the drinks when you are completely drunk!!! thank goodness i don't have customers like you or i'd be out!!

Have we ever met AP if so then i am really ashamed to have spent time in a room with you (and to know that you are a member of ABC)- to insult my person and apperance for having a point of view which is a universal form of commerce is refective of your nature and i will cease from entertaining any debate with you - as to my horse i pay for him and his upkeep and never ask anyone to carry the cost - you remind me of someone that is very young and has never had to work for money but life has a way of working things out and i wish you well in your journey to maturity

Life has a way of repaying bad behaviour Cat and reality bites hard no matter how rich or poor you are - i pity this person as he has much to learn and when he is repayed for his misdeads(i'm sure with his attitude he upsets people in all walks of life) i hope he remembers all the people he has upset when life slaps him into reality and he wonders what he has done to deserve his lot in life

AP whats got into you mate..why you having a go at owners like Mr H and myself with this mug story..in my opinion if you wanna own a racehorse and I currently have 15 and in my life have owned over 100 since 1985 (so I sure do know how much it costs) you need to make provision for the costs..just like if you own a house you need to make provision for the costs..unfortunately trainers dont have a monopoly like the banks do and when owners dont pay the trainer cannot just auction off the horse to cover outstanding costs..yes certain trainers do sumtimes overplay the story of how good a horse maybe in the future to keep the horse in training maybe longer than it should BUT its the owners ability to judge himself as to whether he leaves the horse in training or not! If he feels hes wasting money then its up to him to pull out.
Personally I believe that trainers should really only worry about the horse and his training of it and the money issue should not be a concern and therefore I choose to pay upfront..thats my opinion and dont understand whats wrong with that..if you have a better way then post it and if I can learn from it I certainly will.

Good luck trying to implement that here. By all accounts, the organisational skills of our NHRA are not exactly world class. They can't even ensure that horses' names don't exceed the maximum permissible number of characters (Columbian Connection doesn't fit and comes out as Columbian Connecti, for instance), so anything on the scale that Catsmug is suggesting could be a bridge too far for them.
To put it kindly.
