The last person i ever want to hear again is HIM .......

Hi all thought it was time for a wee update.

We did not manage to get to the kids but got as far as Clarens.
It was an arrangement we had made previously and were not in a position to cancel, plus it would have been unfair on the house owner.

Many people got “stuck away” with the Presidents announcement and were in a limbo situation as far as holidays/celebration after a shocking year.

Have we learnt anything from his knee jerk reaction?

I can only convey from my experience in Clarens, the last few days.
The town is busy during the day and many restaurants stay open until around 6 ish, trying to survive without the sale of alcohol to a rather depressed clientele. Trying to select from a cold drink to some alcohol free drink.

Everyone in the town wears masks in the fresh air with social distancing.
When you go into a restaurant in a confined space with many people, the masks are basically off ( I am sure the same as most places, as this was also the trend in Pretoria).

Not sure what has been happening on beaches as I have only been watching Tellytrack, as TV not been a priority.

We are having a good time with friends and have had enough drinks to keep our addiction on track 🥃

Not sure what will happen on 15th? I can assure you that restaurants and pubs are battling and more doors will close and job loss will again increase, if that is possible.

The question has to be, what was logical during the Presidents last announcement? Has anything been gained? Can we learn going forward?

My guess would be a change of Government is well overdue.
We know this will not happen.

The Covid figures appear to be on a massive upswing and if anyone has some positive thoughts for the New Year?

I would certainly appreciate something to look forward to.

No reason or logic to this virus...can take every precaution and get it and then there are those that are negligent and irresponsible who have no idea that they may have it...

I was very unwell for about 7-10 days...temp over 38 and heart rate about 140 for a few hours...and then all back to normal for a day or two and then an hour or two of the temp and high heart rate returning...all good for last 5 days...been having lots of fluids, zinc, vitamin C and D and resting as much as I can...sometimes that's all the body really wants to get itself "fixed"...

All the best to all Clanners....stay safe and healthy and just avoid anyone from outside one's household...

China said that they had things under control well before any vaccination so either China lying or vaccination pushers are lying...

Bob you may be amending the title of this thread to......Level 3



Daily there are reports coming in of doctors in private practice and in hospitals and nurses succumbing to this plague.

So far over 10 doctors and more nurses in the past week alone.

And Police personnel.

Hundreds of years of experience gone that will be very hard to replace.

RIP .....The fallen soldiers.

Positives:

Read an article that suggests South Africa is at about 18% towards herd immunity. i did not understand the figures
Health department front line workers have been amazing even as their superiors plundered and looted the funds for PPE' and critical COVID kit.
Isreal will be virtually 100% inoculated by end April.

Negatives

ANC will still win 2021 local elections and continue looting for another 5 years.

If only they could find a vaccine, put it in beer and open the pubs. The whole of SA will be vaccinated in a week

Talk of a 30 day lock-down on the cards. Only essential services to remain open, supermarkets to close at 3.00pm, curfew 6 to 6, mining, agriculture and manufacturing to remain open as of Tuesday, so I've heard - let's see tomorrow night.

And what about the borders

Personally I believe the rumours of an address by the President are fake. Ive seen one so called press release and its a joke to be honest. Just my opinion of course .
