Rilee Rossouw after returning to the side has made only one good score of 96 and in 4 other innings has made a total of 30 odd. He is a powerful player but if he flops, the jury will be out.
.

That post did not age well

Quote "If he flops" and before that powerful player. Showed his prowess today....

That has to be it for Bavuma a mere 3 runs in 3 knocks. What has Hendricks done to be left out of the side?

Outside of Bavuma and Zondo, SA cricket has very few batsmen of African descent to call upon and the team demographics have some arbitrary target about persons of African descent so they have to keep him in...just where becomes a problem because opening the batting, eating up a few balls in T20 can be very costly...

So where were the rest of the batsman born? Surely if you are born in SA you are an African.

Not according to the African nationalists...hence my use of "African descent"...

The point being that there is a target with respect to Black African (do not like the phrase) representation in the team...Rabada and Ngidi (when not injured) select themselves in the bowling but difficult with the batting in that only Bavuma and Zondo have had some performances to merit consideration...and by making Bavuma captain, they have to find a place in the team for him nothwithstanding form and overall record...

The 20/20 WC kicks off in a couple of weeks so what do SA do? Remain in India in order to play an ODI series against India who have already sent their 20/20 team to Australia to further prepare for the WC.

AB being PC and not wanting to create further instability before a big event...
I want Bavuma to do well for the overall benefit of the team but current form is current form...and overall record doesn't show that a great run of form can happen...

SA has 8 ODI matches in which to pick up points for next year's World Cup automatic qualification after they forfeited trip to Aus for 3 matches ..so pressure to qualify dictated schedule...

So they have slimmed down their chances of winning the 20/20 WC in order to qualify for the 50 over WC by calling off the 50 over series v Australia in order to boost their local 20/20 comp. Yip makes sense 🤔

Dwaine Pretorius is out of the T20 World Cup. Hopefully Marco Jansen replaces him. He is on the standby list.

Rahkeem Cornwall, the 26-year-old all-rounder from Antigua weighing around 140 kilograms, became the heaviest Test cricketer ever when he was inducted in West Indies’ playing XI for the second Test against India. Rahkeem surpassed former Australia captain Warwick Armstrong, who weighed 133-139 kg, to achieve this feat.

West Indies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bowl against an unchanged India in the 2nd Test at Sabina Park. West Indies had two debutants in the form of Rahkeem Cornwall who replaced Miguel Cummins and Jahmar Hamilton who was drafted in the side at the place of Shai Hope.

Rahkeem Cornwall, who can hit big sixes at will and get some sharp bounce and turn with his off-spin, has been among the most consistent cricketers in the domestic circuit in the recent past. In West Indies Championships 2018-19, Cornwall picked up 54 wickets at a staggering average of 17.68 runs.

Rahkeem Cornwall scored 200 runs in boundaries in his 205* for Atlanta Fire against Square Drive Panthers in the Atlanta Open T20 tournament 🤯

I didn't say it makes sense but that's what they did...where's the shaking head emoji when you need it?
