Day 166

We are over 15,000 deaths due to the “China” Virus .

It must be time to get back to normal and we await the presidents next announcement with bated breath.
The second wave might also become a concern if complacency creeps in ?
Difficult situation for all.

Racing today is from the Cape and indications are good weather is the order of the day.
UK racing also plenty choices.
I notice a few nibbles on Enable for the ARC as Ghaiyyath and Stradivarius are drifting, the one being backed outside the big 2 is Raabihah.

I see a few Clicks shops took a battering and have closed for business due to this hair raising experience.
I understand that people can take offense but considering the other major problems we have, it’s just another excuse for disruptive behavior.
Have stolen a song from the EFF play list.

This must be a real fear. Markets must be thinking the international lockdowns will continue for longer than we think.
Price of crude crashes today.

Day 167

Well we have plenty racing today and the big news is that race goers will be able to attend at Doncaster today for the first time in 6 months.
This will build up to the St Leger on Sat, which if not mistaken is the oldest of the British classics? It’s also the last leg of the triple crown.

Ghaiyyath goes for the Irish Champion Stakes on Sat and grab as much evens as you can get.

Had a very pleasant lunch yesterday with the ladies from CK racing yesterday and hopefully we will have a runner soon, with this dynamic team.

I am still sick about the fears that face us on a daily basis, this EFF behavior is totally unacceptable but I guess we must just get on with our normal life’s the best we can

I read yesterday that the UK had reduced the maximum size of social gathering to six. (OK, I think I also read that it will be implemented from Monday).

It’s day 168

This is just a quick post as I have already damaged my brain cells posting on the “Owning Horses “ thread.

The euphoria of going back to the racing was short lived in the UK with numbers being limited a few hours after the announcement.

Very sad to hear the news that GEORGE BIZOS passed away, he was one of the great South Africans, R.I.P. 🙏

It’s day 169

Another weekend is on us and have to say I am really looking forward to this one.
We leave early on Saturday morning to go and visit the grandkids in KZN, so early morning posts maybe difficult for scotia with visitors predicted at the crack of dawn.

The dustbins have not been removed for the second week and the street is looking rather messy.

As far as racing there is plenty options today and over the weekend.
The highlights would obviously be, Irish Champion Stakes from Leopardstown and the St Leger from Doncaster.
It’s no secret what my thoughts are on GHAIYYATH and if you managed to get some evens, well done.
The St Leger is certainly not cut and dry with Pyledriver and Santiago joint favs at 7/2. My preference is for the Dettori mount.

Just a reminder

Following an alarming number of the rate of Covid cases in the UK even newer laws on how many people can socialise indoors and outdoors are being introduced from Monday. So we can forget about spectators at sporting events - Mac says may be next year. Restaurants here in SA? Alcohol prohibition again? Sunday mass?

I am sure I lost a day yesterday and its now day 171 of lockdown.

We arrived safe in KZN yesterday to a very enthusiastic 2 wee lassies who thought it was Christmas Day.

After the disappointment of Ghaiyyath getting beaten in a thrilling race its time to focus on France today for some ARC pointers.

Will Serpentine prove the Derby win was a fluke or will the original fav prove to be the king? I will go for an ew on ENGLISH KING at 5/1.
STADIVARIUS 12/10 also runs and could give Frankie another winner in what is sure to be a tactical race.
The much vaunted and third fav for the ARC is RAABIHAH, could also be a winner at 8/10.
EARTHLIGHT 1/1 can also get back to winning ways on a wonderful card from Longchamp.

A classic from the late, great Tommy Cooper to establish if Stradivarius is the real deal.

Heeding the title of this topic what I am about to say is becoming a “fear” for me. I’m losing my appetite for local horseracing as I find the pattern racing from the UK, Ireland and France out of this world.
