Re: Fears and thoughts in South Africa
2 years 8 months agoWell that's a good start to the day Mike
We live in hope that King Charles can show some extraordinary statemanship in the difficult challenges facing his subjects and Allies.
I am inclined to think he will not be a war-mongerer like Blair and promote a peaceful solution to the former USSR region conflict.
The minority amongst us that have been born in the era of the USSR, GDR [East Germany], Yugoslavia and other Soviet bloc countries have had no fears growing up about Nuclear threats to our very existence on Planet Earth, although aware of the cold war .
Now it all hangs on the press of a remote button and the BIG BANG theory takes on a whole new meaning.:woohoo:

This after Biden publicly announced that they would put an end to Nordstream 2. Coincidentally, a new pipeline (Norway-Poland Baltic Pipeline) was conveniently opened today. This could be a declaration of war. What will Russia's response be? Eskom's load shedding could become the least of our worries.

We continue with load shedding causing havoc to homes and businesses.
I was listening to Cyril addressing the various municipality leaders.
Quote
" to attract investors we must prove to them that we have minimal red tape, good infrastructure as far as roads, water and electricity, plus we must not steal and sit in your offices and outsourcing your work and taking wages"
OK not quote but basically the language he used to talk to senior of highly paid people?
It's mind boggling that he feels he has to explain this ??
Good luck on attracting investors. 😪

......our export coal industry has been soft in recent years but only the highest quality is exported at international market pricing but now is set to boom as Europe now looks to revive this energy source to supplement gas and oil.... but this has no effect on our load shedding problems.....

....the big money spinner is diesel and one SOE's woe is making another SOE plenty dough.....as De Ruyter has let slip news of a ship which is normally never reported openly and has been in the past hushed up....a tanker laden with diesel is unable to connect to an offshore pipeline in Mossel Bay....and for those that do not know this is the old Mossgas setup that was once used for exporting high quality GTL distillate from the Mossgas refinery and sold as "boutique" fuel internationally.....this set up is now owned by Petro SA a little discussed SOE that has been the haven for top ANC cadre deployment and now a gold mine as the diesel is imported and then considerably marked up through distribution and logistics channels and sold on to ESKOM who pay a hefty price to try keep the lights on....so while they cannot sort out the power generation through conventional coal fired plants....Petro SA will continue to mint money and kick it back to the government.....

I am prepared to lay that Gold Circle would not be facing the cut in revenue that they are facing to that Transformation Fund whatever.................if Jacob Zuma was still President.[ In his term of office].
One or two July winners by Numba One and the "Transformation Fund whatever" will be fully funded...

@Muhtiman...didn't PetroSA sell off the reserves to cadres at a bargain basement price of $28 and will likely be replacing it at 3 times the price by re-purchasing from the same cadres? Bit like how the eThekwini Municipality buys the bus service for R400 million and sells it back to the cadres for a much discounted price...money needed to fund election bribes...

Doesn't this apply to his entire executive, every deployed cadre that facilitates tenders going to pre-determined ANC aligned persons and entities who will "donate" to the ANC, and a host of "public servants" who have been moved to positions that maximise their incompetence such that ANC connected consultants are required?

Re: Fears and thoughts in South Africa
2 years 8 months ago....Petro SA has always been a dodgy dealing concern with a massive slush fund....as Mossgas no longer refines anything ....yet they are now a storage facility for imported fuel and now has a massive logistics and distribution division that is enriching outsourced cadre's transporting this higher priced commodity which could be handled cheaper through other ports...@Muhtiman...didn't PetroSA sell off the reserves to cadres at a bargain basement price of $28 and will likely be replacing it at 3 times the price by re-purchasing from the same cadres? The Strategic Fuel Fund (SFF) is the entity that holds reserves of crude and petroleum products on behalf of the state and this is the entity that was under the spotlight for the dodgy trade at a bargain basement price a few years ago, NOT PetroSA. They are however all cut from the same cloth. The SFF and PetroSA are owned by the Central Energy Fund that falls in the portfolio and control of none other that Gwede the untouchable Man-touch.
The fact of the matter is that there is no diesel shortage in SA currently and that excludes the reserves that sits in tanks at the SFF. Is de Ruyter trying to pave the way for "emergency" procurement of diesel due to PetroSA's inability to supply Eskom? I know for a fact that PetroSA is also not the only supplier of diesel to Eskom. Eskom is in all likelihood dependent on credit terms from PetroSA and probably don't have cash to pay upfront for diesel. No doubt that someone is in for a big payday soon after emergency diesel is delivered in the coming days.
Time for Gordan and de Ruyter to pack it up as their (non)performance is crippling the economy. Gwede should also follow.
PS. One upon a time, in the last decade, PetroSA was a cash cow with in excess of R10 billion of cash on its balance sheet. Today they literally struggle to pay salaries.

.....one day when the ANC is ultimately unseated we will come to learn more of the wheeling and dealing they have done to bankrupt our country.....ESKOM is still thick with the ANC cadre's sucking the life out of it....and right under de Ruyters nose....
