@ tnaicker Thank you. I am sure you appreciate my post was not Intended to label everyone, nor to take away from those who have made good, honestly and fairly by rising up in the face of adversity.
I agree with much of what you say.
@Dave. Thank you. You seem to appreciate my reply was not to disrespect you personally.

@flydubai...my point is that most people are likely to encounter adversity than advantage in their lives...making excuses is just a crutch for not trying...acceptance of the status quo as being one's lot in life is easier than putting in the hard yards required...no-one is going to give to you to uplift you to their level but if you take the first step, there are enough good people to enable you to take subsequent steps...

I'm an accountant by profession so pay very close attention to SA government finances...in 25+ years, we have gone from public debt of about R400 billion to over R4,3 trillion...we pay about as much to service public debt than what was the total debt in 1994...and so much off it is siphoned off into the bank accounts of our wannabe rulers who use those ill-gotten gains to buy bling from the very "white monopoly capital" they decry...they don't get irony...

The finances will break us because "government" only gets money from two sources...current taxes and future taxes (current borrowings)...and there is a point at which you cannot tax people and businesses any further as they will move from tax avoidance to tax evasion or emigrate and take their taxes with them...and then you try to tax those that remain more and then it becomes a race to the bottom...

We have more than enough for everyone's needs but not enough for a few people's greed...think it was Gandhi who said that...so true...and that greed hurts the very people that those elected were meant to help...

So, I refuse to accept low standards or minimum levels of competence...whatever the starting point was, where is the personal pride in wanting to do better / improve? And, since I didn't come with any advantage / legacy, is it okay for me to criticise? I read the News 24 article and all the writer focused on was the failings of Hersov...by the same token, many can dismiss the article as News24 are known shills for the ANC...but that doesn't get us as a country anywhere...just get the right people , irrespective of hue, to keep the ship floating and I will not say a word of criticism...even about Cyril the Squirrel...

No problem guys we all have our views of the current situation and have to manage the best we can.

I am sure the one thing we have in common is that we agree the ANC are doing a shocking job in trying to guide the country the best way forward?

The damage could be irreparable?

Hope for the best 🙏

Will try and have a punt before the next power outage.

What the daily financial damage due to load shedding must be mind boggling 😎😪

Cost estimate is that it is R1 bilion / day / stage decrease in GDP...so stage 4 that has been the norm of late would mean R 4 billion /day decrease in GDP...

And that loss of GDP / non growth in GDP means loss of jobs / little uptick in employment to eat into our 35-60% unemployment rate...

Population increase is about 2.1% a year so need growth of about the same so maintain per capita GDP...growth has been below that 2.1% a year for some time now so per capita GDP has seen a drop...basically, we are, on average, getting poorer...another problem we have is that we have a "young" population which means more not contributing into the economy but needing healthcare, education, etc from the economy...a "young" ppoulation is not bad if investment in eucation is going to lead to productivity and economic growth in the future but we know the state of public education (primary, secondary and tertiary) is not going to give the country the skills needed especially when a 3 year degree takes an average of 5 years for the 20 odd % that do complete a degree and not necessarily in a scarce skill...

Dave, do seriously believe that this is what they are trying to do? I personally think that they only have one thing on their minds, and it ain't us or the country.

I have no idea what they are doing but unfortunately I don't think they know what they are doing.

I notice that our power only comes back on 18.30 and not 16.30 😪

As I am a realist and not a white liberal like some on the clan, blaming the past for all the current problems in the country doesnt gel with me , get your house in order then start blaming

It would be more believable if Rama said due to the electricity crisis I have to cut my visit short to empty my fridge and freezer. He is deluded to think that SA needs his leadership to manage the electricity crisis.

Rama and Andre de Ruyeter have not delivered - both must go - no more excuses from these broken records.

Unless he can hold all the cables together to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, he should stay...he'd miss out on another opportunity to be the "unidentified leader" in pic with world "leaders"...

I did a school run this morning without robots in the area and it was chaos except for the taxis 🚕
If I was still in industry and trying to run a productive plant, I have no idea how we could survive.

Maybe the master plan is to take Africa back to Africa before the industrial revolution?
I certainly dont want to sound racist but I was watching the new king in Africa telling the people that we must respect our ladies and 100s of young lassies were jumping about with their tits oot 😉
We can only hope the King Charles has a similar function arranged 😏

You can only smile 😶 during these difficult times and why we need Cyril rushing back is anyone's guess??
